(I) Guidelines for Part (B) - Relevant Concepts and Knowledge/ Facts/ Data
ð What are the key knowledge and concepts that you think are significant for understanding the
issues in your enquiry?
ð What are the basic and necessary knowledge/ facts/ data that facilitate your understanding of
the issue?
ð How do you gather the facts/ data for your enquiry?
ð How would you apply the concepts and knowledge/ facts/ data to your issue enquiry?
Background information of the social issue or recent issue
1. Definition of Concepts & relevant knowledge:
Present any important concepts that must be defined / explained in your IES
E.g. Concepts that serve as framework of your study, Concepts that serve as criteria
for judgment, Concepts that form the core of your study, etc.
Present important background knowledge/ facts/ data that readers must know
E.g. Definition/ basis information/ introduction of the measure/ policy/ measure
concerned, Any former policies/ measures that might form as the basis for the issue/
policy concerned, etc.
Start each piece of knowledge/ concept in a new paragraph. Don’t forget to explain how
these concepts/ knowledge relevant to your studies in each of the paragraph.
2. Methodology
Introduce the data collection method that you are going to use one by one, for each of
the collection method you should include:
i. Your target group (introduce them when necessary/ give details for interviewee +
explain why you interview him/her)
ii. Your planned research tools
iii. The way that you distribute the research tool
iv. Number of respondents (for questionnaire)
v. Any precaution of your data collection
