inputs and outputs. What goes in the input; what causes the change is the process; what comes out

is the output.

Figure 1 illustrates the basic IPO model.

Figure 1 shows the research paradigm of the study. The input is composed of the following:

The process included the preparation of questionnaire, dry run of the questionnaire,

collection of data, analysis and interpretation of data.

The output of the study is to determine the Relevance in the Values Formation of “Ang

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the different aspects of the methodology. These are the research design,

the sources of data, the instrumentation and data collection and the statistical tools for data

analysis.

Research Design

This study sought to determine the Relevance of Values Formation of “Ang Probinsyano”

among High School Students. In view of the research problem, the study adopted the descriptive

method of research.

Descriptive research, as defined by Calderon and Gonzales (2004), is considered as a

purposive process of gathering, analyzing, classifying, and tabulating data about prevailing

conditions, practices, beliefs, processes, trends and the cause and effect relationship and then

making adequate and accurate interpretation about such data. It is a method of describing the nature

of situation as it exists at the time of the study and a method of research based on the collection

and analysis of the data. Descriptive research focuses on gathering data from the respondents to

identify the characteristics of a specific group. In other words, it elicits answers as to what the

phenomenon is and how it works.

The main purpose of using the aforementioned research design as the research design was

to describe and explain the phenomenon and how it worked.

Sources of Data
The sources of data in this study were grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 of Bobonan National

High School, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan.

Table 1 shows the distribution of respondents in this study.

Instrumentation and Data Collection

The instrument used in gathering data is questionnaire which was administered to 50

respondents. The questionnaire contained six sub-problems

The first sub problems dealt with the frequency of watching TV series “Ang Probinsyano”

while the second sub-problems dealt with the feelings toward the characters of the TV series, the
third sub-problems dealt with relevance of the episodes, the fourth sub problems dealt with

to improve the public viewing.

The researchers are guided by their related studies and related literature in formulation of the

questionnaire. To validate the questionnaire their teacher guided them to make it. The

questionnaire was dry-run to the selected students of Bobonan National High School.

Clarifications from the respondents were also taken into consideration in the preparation of the

final draft of the questionnaire.

Statistical Tools for Data Analysis

The data collected were subjected to statistical computation to answer the different sub-

problems.

To answer the sub-problems Number 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 the Average Weighted Mean (AWM)

was used.

The formula is shown below:

AWM = Σ fW

Whereas:

AWM – Average Weighted Mean

Σ fw - the sum of the products of the frequency of respondents answering

multiplied by the weight assigned to the variables”

N - Overall Sample

The criteria that used to interpret the collected data was followed by 5 points Likert
