PRÉSENTATION ET OBJECTIFS
There are no formal exams at this level; however children are assessed regularly in the ESL class. The children are
working at Level A1+ of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference). Main class children are working at
C1/C2 level.
CONTENU DU PROGRAMME
To recognize and be able to use verbally, aurally and in written form vocabulary in the following themes:
Vocabulary
School: the classroom Clothes The House The Town - The World
Furniture Around Us
Grammar: At CP level grammar is implicit, not explicit. Children identify patterns in language, recognize
contexts and try to reproduce the patterns appropriately in the correct context
Adjectives – comparatives, superlatives, intensifiers; Spelling – spelling follows that of the main class, focusing
possessives on Phase 2, 3 and 5 phonics and high frequency words.
Culture
Independent reading: the children follow the Oxford Reading Tree at their own individual level.
Adult-led reading: variety of American and English books and poems both in the main class and available for the
children to borrow and share at home with an English-speaking adult.
Communication
This program could be rearranged to suit the rate of learning and language acquisition of the children. The main teacher
and the ESL teacher collaborate closely to enable the children to integrate into the main class successfully.

Incredible English 1, -2nd Edition- (depending on child’s level of English) Oxford University; Class Book, Activity
Book, flashcards and CD, online support. Visual Aids: photos, maps, picture books etc. Multi-media resources: music
CDs, internet, suitable computer programs etc.
