E. Abstraction

“Communication is the exchange of

thoughts, feelings, expressions and

observations among people.

People can transmit messages

verbally, using words and phrases or

non-verbally, using signs, objects,

body movements, and also form

actions, style and mannerism.

These elements of communication are the

main components of process.

 The sender (speaker) – the one

conveys message, oral or written.

Influenced by past conditioning,

knowledge about the subject an

attitude towards self and the listener.

The sender’s goal is to ensure that

his/her intended message is the

message actually communicated.

 The receiver (listener) – is the one

who listens and decodes the

message.
 The message – the information

received by the receiver from the

sender. Messages are the ideas and

feelings make up the content of

communication process.

 The channel – the medium or means

which the message transmitted.

F. APPLICATION (Students do the role playing)

Same group from earlier activity. I’m

going to give you a situation and you are

going to act it through role playing. After the

role play one representative from each group

will identify the elements of communication

that is present. I’ll give you 5 minutes to

discuss your presentation.
