CHED StuFAPs: The best among the rest

By: Maricar A. Bobis

Most students, including myself, are eager to find scholarships that match their interests,
experiences, etc. However, applying for scholarships or educational assistance may seem intimidating. All
of the sudden you find yourself knee- deep in scholarships stress. It is my honor to introduce to you a
place where you can truly begin making your dreams become a reality. The CHED Students Financial
Assistance Programs so called StuFAPs is a fantastic grant that truly lays down the base in helping students
in all races, ages, and gender, begin becoming what they’ve always dared to dream.
I am just an ordinary freshmen college student back then. My parents only have a modest salary
to support our education. I was not sure if I’m going to finish my studies since I also have two siblings. I
knew it, it would come this way. It comes to the point that one of us had to stop studying, but we never
ever let this happened. My mother urged me to look for scholarships to ease the burden of this financial
problem. I look for many scholarship or any educational assistance as many as I could. Luckily, I’ve been
part of this CHED StuFAPs grantees. It’s opened so many doors for me and allowed me to see and seize all
the opportunities offered to me. It’s shown me that scholarship can come in all shapes and sizes. As college
education tuition and fees increase exponentially each year, it’s nice to have options to help my family so
we’re not swamped with financial debt. As this scholarship helped me a lot, with my co-grantees, we
created an organization for us to help students as this scholarship helped us. Every semester, our
organization planned and prepare some simple present for the students, and we called it “Gift Giving”.
This project intended for us to show our gratitude and appreciation to those people who supports our
studies financially. We, SPBCF Alliance of CHED STUFAP Grantees- whole heartedly wants to share the
blessings we received through activities that benefits other people especially this young people and it is
successfully conducted.
And as time goes on, four years after, I am now a degree holder. I finished my four years course,
Bachelor of Elementary Education at St. Peter Baptist College Foundation, I’m so glad I made it. College
is expensive. College seems impossible to those people who can’t afford it, but there is always a way to
make it possible. There are so lot of opportunities out there, just like this scholarship I have. For me, CHED
StuFAps was a Godsend. It is truly an aid for any student, and one of the few things in this season of life
that isn’t confusing. Thank you, CHED StuFAps for the coolest opportunity you’ve given to me, for making
my college life seamless and giving me the support to pursue my college dream. And to my scholastic
peers, best of luck and don’t ever give up.
