SUMMARY

Marina Bay Sands is the world's most complicated construction project. It took more less
three years to build. Marina Bay Sands was designed by Moshe Safdie, an Israel-Canadian Architect.
Here are some details about the buildings.

The engineers had to build three skyscrapers. The Marina Bay Sands it's not one mega-
structure but many, serious challenges lie in the array of building that form the unique complex. The
complex sits on 560 thousand square meters of reclaimed land part of a decade long plan to revamp
Marina Bay Sands a former saltwater is all now a fresh water reservoir. Beneath the reclaimed land
which is a dangerous layer of marine clay has very poor structural properties, caused potentially fatal.
It is too soft when you dig it, so walls would potentially collapse and allowed all the surrounding
water in the bay into the excavation. So, the engineers decided to build giant concrete walls to create
stabilizing parameters for the larger buildings, known as diaphragm walls. The diaphragm which they
called a peanut formation was a two circles joined together and a doughnut formation which was
circular were able to stand larger forces from the marine clay without any movement. Excellence
Organize is the key. The engineers have built their own three story project office, they had all
constructors and sub-constructors, resident site staff, project management team, construction
management team, and the logistic. One of the facilities in Marina Bay Sands is the hotel. The key
challenge of building the hotel towers because it is unusual design unlike the other skyscrapers, part
of the towers sloped at incredible inclines. Like a set of collapsing dominoes the towers could buckle
under their own weight. It’s a major concern for them, costing 5,5 billion dollars to build the Marina
Bay Sands, could be one of the world’s most expensive mistake if engineers can’t solve the towers
problematic structure. Using the technique, they’ve build large temporary struts made of strong
structural steel they prop up the sloping towers as the rise. Like a suspension bridge high tensile steel
tendon also known as tension cables give an added layer of support inside the walls.

[BAGIAN CAHYA] ……

As we know, Marina Bay Sands is famous for its boat-shaped at the top of the tower, Sky
Park. Sky Park is a rooftop park where we can enjoy the view of the city and also swim. Most people
are curious about the construction, how did they put the boat up there? Before they ‘put’ it at the top,
the engineers divided the steels as boat’s construction at the ground. With the help of the crane, they
lift the constructions up to the top and match them one by one to build the boat-shaped rooftop.
