DESIGN LOADING CRITERIA

5.1 DEAD LOAD

Dead loads are defined as the weight of all permanent structural and non-
structural components of the building, including, but not limited to, floor finishes,
ceilings, roofing, stairs, walkways, fixed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
equipment, and any overburden. Refer Table 5.1 for material densities.

Table 5.1 – Material Densities

The following parameters are considered as per IS 875 part – I 1987

1) Density of Reinforced concrete members: 25 kN/m3

2) Density of Plain concrete members: 24 kN/m3
3) Density of Tremix flooring on Parking levels 25 kN/m3
4) Density of Brick 20 kN/m3
5) Density of Steel 78.5 kN/m3
6) Density of glass 25 kN/m3
7) Density of light weight partitions (e.g. AAC Block) 8 kN/m3
8) Density of plaster 20 kN/m3
9) Density of Water 10 kN/m3
10) Density of soil 19 kN/m3
11) Density of light weight fill 10 kN/m3
