Introduction
In Pokemon Sun, there are 22 different species of avian pokemon. You may decide on a
different definition of what constitutes a borb, but I included the ones that were definitely birb
shaped. This guide will tell you where to find all of your feathered friends, and it also includes a
type matchup chart.

Special Birbs
There are some pokemon that you can get, but you can’t catch them in the wild. Vullaby,
Mandibuzz, Archen, and Archeops can be caught in Moon and traded to Sun. Vullaby can be
caught in the shadows on Route 3, in the same way you guys caught Rufflet. Vullaby and
Mandibuzz are both Dark and Flying types.
Archen can be obtained in Olivia’s shop in Konikoni City. Talk to the older woman around the
side of the counter, and buy the Plume fossil for 3,000 pokeyen. Go to Route 8, and take the
small exit to the east that’s south of the Aether Foundation trailer thing and north of the
pokemon center. There’s a guy in there that will turn the plume fossil into Archen. Archen and
Archeops are both Rock and Flying types.
Staravia, on the other hand, can be obtained in Sun. Once you have unlocked Ula’Ula island, go to
Route 10 on a Thursday. Scan 10 QR codes, perform the Island Scan, and start looking. This
Staravia, when bred, can pass down the move Roost to its offspring. Starly, Staravia, and
Staraptor are Normal and Flying types.

Notes
● Each pokemon can only have one of their possible abilities
● The dusk stone needed to evolve Murkrow is found underwater in the Poni Wilds, or it
can be obtained from a Rank 2 Isle Aphun in Poke Pelago
● Rock, Ice, and Electric type pokemon will be your biggest problems. Combat Rock with
Psyduck and Golduck, who do 2x damage to rock types and don’t take extra damage
from them.
