SCHOOL FRATERNITY(Persuasive)
General Purpose- To change the way of thinking about school fraternity.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen it is my pleasure to welcome you and formally open
this conference, entitled School Fraternity. What do you think about fraternity? Maybe some of
you think fraternity is a group that do silly things like what is used to think before. If you think
that way, I will prove you wrong. Fraternity is a group of men who are part of a brotherhood built
on common goals and aspirations that make commitment to each other life. The members that
form a fraternity share their efforts, friendship and knowledge.
Are there any disadvantages of joining school fraternity or organization? Yes! There are
some disadvantages of joining fraternity like academic distractions due to the fact that being
part of the fraternity can be extremely time consuming. Dangerous behaviors that fraternities still
are commonly involved in lots of parties and drinking. Hazing, which commonly takes place
during rush week for new pledges, is notorious for heavy drinking and parties. This can be lead
to physical risk for those involved. Back to February 7, 2006 the Department of Education
cracked the whip of fraternities, gangs, hazing, and juvenile violence in all public schools. And
also the University of Santo Tomas has suspended the recognition of all fraternities for the next
academic year, following the fatal hazing of UST law freshman Horacio Castillo III in 2017.
But we have mind to think, we all human have the intelligence to think carefully on what
fraternities you are joining on if it is good to your career or not. Here in our campus has a lot of
fraternities such as OSO the top organization in MSEUF, Honor Society of Lambda Kappa Phi,
The Luzonian and many more. Those are kinds of fraternity can help us to our academic
performance and grade point average, skill development outside of the classroom and success
after graduation. Fraternities do great work on their campuses and in their communities and I
don’t know why the mainstream media and some of the government official trying to shut them
down. Fraternities teach you leadership, they teach you time management, and they teach you
how to work well with other people. And before I end up my speech I hope all of you my fellow
students change the way of thinking about fraternities because fraternity is not bad we humans
do such things.
