TRAINING OF TRAINERS

FOR 100 MULTIPLIERS ON FOOD AND FAMILY NUTRITION

AND HEALTH, HYGIENE AND SANITATION MANUALS
A Training of Trainers workshop was organized for 100 project multipliers consisting of both 50 male and
50 female from the 50 communities in Sittia and Dema.The workshop lasted from the 30th of January 2020
to the 2nd of February 2020.

During the training, the multipliers were educated using the Health, Hygiene, Sanitation and LANN Manual
funded by Welthungerhilfe.

THE OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Nutrition training is to enable beneficiary communities to have increased
knowledge on the functions of the different food groups to the body and the relationship between
food and health.

To enable communities to grow and consume locally available food and to practice food and dietary
diversity so as to achieve the minimum dietary diversity for women and children under –fives. The
populace to have knowledge on the consumption patterns of those foods with knowledge on those
food from the wild to add to the household food basket.

To reduce the rate of Malnutrition among pregnant women, lactating mothers and children under-
fives

In order to promote maximum contribution from participants, various methods of facilitation such as group
work and presentation of plenaries, role play, brainstorming were used. Visual aids and the use of IEC
materials helped boost the instructiveness of the training session and this led to increased participation by
the less literate of participants.

Prior to the day of the Nutrition training, food samples of various groups were mobilized to the venue to
showcase the availability of different food items in the communities and grouped them into the three main
food groups- Energy, Body Building and Protective foods.

The session was climaxed with the distribution of the training manuals to the Multipliers.
