ABOUT THE COURSE

The Mathematics 10-C, 20-1, 30-1 sequence is a rigorous mathematics program
designed for students with a strong aptitude and keen interest in mathematics,
who are intending to pursue post-secondary studies in a mathematics related
program. Mathematics 30-1 emphasizes mathematical theory, uses a more
traditional approach to learning, incorporates technology as a tool to enhance
understanding, and teaches algebra for its own sake and as a means to solve
problems. Students in this sequence require an Alberta Education approved
graphing calculator.

Math Help
Students must be accountable of their own learning and are responsible to reach
out if they do not understand something. I am always there to offer extra
instruction and assistance when necessary. If needed, out of class time is available
to be scheduled. Appointments can be made by utilizing the link on Mrs. McNutt’s
webpage.

Exams
There will be frequent quizzes and at the end of each unit, an exam. If a student is
absent, it is the responsibility of the student to make up any missed assessments
when the student returns to class. A student is caught cheating will receive a
0% until a different test has been written in an effort to accurately assess
the learning. As well, parents will be notified, and an alternative testing
environment may be explored on further testing.

Absences
Regular attendance is critical to success in this course. Absences may seriously
affect your overall success. In the event of an absence, it is the student’s
responsibility to find out what work must be completed and, with the teacher,
determine a mutually agreed upon timeline for all missed work to be handed in.
Your peers, Mrs. McNutt’s website, and Mrs. McNutt are all good resources for
finding out what you have missed.
