 Describe the education system in the UAE.
Divided into two groups: public and private sector. The public sector is managed and funds
by the government and the focus in Islamic and Arabic influence. The private sector meets
their religious, cultural and education needs and have their own system.
- List the four educational systems followed along the education system of the UAE.
• Kindergarten - age level from: 4 to 5 years old.
• Primary - length of programmer in years: 6, age level from: 6 to12 .
• Preparatory -length of programmer in years: 3, age level from: 12 to 15.
• Secondary - length of programmer in years: 3, age level from : 15 to: 18.
- What is the aim and vision of the educational system in the UAE?

Ministry of Education produced a policy document (Vision 2020) outlining a strategy for
further educational development in the UAE up to the year 2020, articulated in a number
of five-year plans. Vision 2020 is based on “effective strategic planning model”.(Bryson,
1995).
- How often the accomplishment of the vision is been reviewed?

The accomplishment of the vision is planned to go through an evaluation every five years.

This is followed by the development of a curricular framework and guidelines that would
subsequently be used in development of textbooks and other teaching material.”

1. This committee determines the syllabus topics and learning outcomes for different class’s levels.

2. This information is passed to the under sectary of curriculum who supervises the development of
textbooks.

3. These books and teachers’ guides are then passed to the teaches who deliver the course.

4. Subject supervisors come and sit in the classrooms to monitor the quality of curriculum delivery and
report their finding of the secretaries’ office and recommendations.
