Mainly most of the Projects are done on LSTK (Lump Sum Turn Key) Basis by
the engineering firms.

Sometimes it is done on Engineering and procurement assistance basis(EPC).

Sometimes it is only on Engineering Basis.

Design Group

Now a day’s all PIPING WORK is done in 3D environment.

Software used is PDMS (Plant Design and Management System)

Based on Equipment Layout / Plot Plan from Process Department / Layout group 3D
Equipment

Model is prepared.

Then comes the piping study i.e. routing of lines based on P&IDs.

In 3D modelling, customisation of all piping components / piping material specification is

necessary to start with the piping study.

Piping routing shall be done to take care of instruments details, process, operation,
maintenance and safety views.

Routing of lines is to be done from aesthetic point of view also.

Isometrics with bill of material, with piping support details, consolidated bill of material etc
are generated from 3D model.

Piping General arrangement drawings also can be generated from this model.
Material Group

Basic material for piping like CS, AS and SS , ferrous, nonferrous etc will be based on the
fluid handled, corrosive / non corrosive., temperature and pressure of the fluid etc.

Then piping material specifications will be prepared, defining all piping components,
(material standard, dimension standard) based on IS, BS, DIN, ISO, ANSI standards.

Pipe thickness calculation as per the standard ANSI / IBR

Procurement (technical) of all piping items is the main activity of Material group.
