1.

Explain why COBIT should be regarded as a framework that enables the

implementation of Enterprise Governance and Management of IT.

 provides a comprehensive framework that assists enterprises to achieve their

objectives for the governance and management of enterprise IT 

 enables IT to be governed and managed in a holistic manner for the whole

enterprise, taking in the full end to end business and IT functional areas of
responsibility considering the IT-related interests of internal and external
stakeholders
2. Explain the concept of “enablers” suggested by COBIT 5.

 Enables: factors that, individually and collectively, influence whether something

will work
o in this case, governance and management over enterprise IT
 COBIT 5 framework describes 7 categories of enablers
o Principles, Policies, and Frameworks
o Processes -> soft issues

o Information -> resources we need in order to enable the implementation
o Services, Infrastructure and Applications -> resources we need in order to

implementation
3. Explain how the IT-balanced scorecard concepts are integrated in COBIT.

 balanced scorecard enables a broader measurement process

o all enterprise and IT related goals are grouped in the balance scorecard
o COBIT provides samples of outcome metrics to measure each of those goals
and to build a scorecard for IT related activities
o the metrics enable organization to build a comprehensive scorecard for the
entire IT related environment to see whether stakeholder needs are being
met
4. Explain how the concept of “IT savviness” is introduced in COBIT 5.

 COBIT 5 doesn’t only focus on the “IT Function,” but treats information and
technologies as assets that need to be dealt with like any other asset in the
organization
o Shift from managing IT as a “cost” toward managing IT as an “asset” to create
business value

 governance of IT?
 not sure about this

whole enterprise, taking in the
o full end-to-end business and IT functional areas of responsibility
o considering the IT-related interests of internal and external stakeholders

6. Explain the difference between governance and management of enterprise IT
 and

illustrate with examples.

 IT governance -> the accountability of the board of directors under the leadership

o business and IT management plans, builds, runs, and monitors activities (a
COBIT translation of Deming’s PDCA circle Plan, Do, Check, Act) in
