Welcome Back to Term 4
Welcome Back to Term 4
A very warm welcome back to all members of our Learning Community to Term 4. I hope that
Open Day - Saturday 10 all families enjoyed the break from school routines, and that our students were able to take the
October time to rest and to gather their strength for the big term which is ahead of us. In particular, I
Traffic Concerns know that our Year 12 students made good use of their time to consolidate their studies, and
to sit practice examinations in the third week. We wish them all the very best as they make
School Appointments for
their final preparations for the coming examinations.

Colours Open Day – Saturday 10 October
2015/16 Summer Season We hope that the weather will be kind to us tomorrow when we will again be hosting our Annual
Captains and Vice Captains Open Day (Saturday, 10 October) from 10.00am until 2.00pm. Our Parents’ Associations have
Student Exchange to St again done an extraordinary job in preparing and organising a range of activities and stalls for
Edward High School, Ohio, the day. We welcome you all to Open Day and hope that you will enjoy the opportunity to be
USA a part of our community for a day, and to see some of the varied activities which take place at
Australian National Rubik’s our School. The day gives us not only the chance to present our School to the broader public
Cube Competition but also to come together ourselves and to celebrate our own community.
Our Cadet Passing Out Parade on the Jack Tobias Oval (JTO) at 1.00pm is always one of the
2015 Alliance Francaise
Competition highlights of the day. We are delighted that our Cadets will be inspected this year by Lt Col
Andrew Butler, (CGS 1976). We are very grateful to him for finding time in his busy schedule
National Chemistry Quiz to make a visit to Camberwell Grammar School and I am sure that the members of the Unit
AGSV Athletics will present themselves in an exemplary way for his inspection.
Fencing
Unfortunately, there will be no parking for parents and visitors on site on Saturday since the
Jack Tobias Oval will be in use for Parade and all car parking spaces will be taken up by staff
2015 World Championships and others involved in displays. I ask in particular that cars are not parked on grass nature
Spectemur strips or across the driveways of surrounding streets. We do ask for the co-operation of all our
visitors in this so that neighbouring residents are not inconvenienced.
Middle School Please feel most welcome to attend if only for a short time, and I look forward to meeting and
Term 4 seeing many of you there. I also wish to thank in advance those of our students who have
volunteered to act as tour guides or participate in other activities throughout the day.
Open Day
National Chemistry Quiz We look forward to the leadership that these students, and indeed, all of our Senior students
will give us next year.

Term 4
It was great to see the boys back en masse as we launched into Term 4 on Monday. Many
were sporting sun tans from their holiday destinations and all appeared to be fit and healthy.
It certainly promises to be a busy ten weeks ahead, with several exciting events coming up.
To name a few, we have the annual Year 8 Social on Friday 23 October, a run/walk for charity
on Wednesday 28 October, the House Swimming Carnival on Friday 6 November and the Year
8 camp at Kangaroobie, commencing on Monday 30 November. More information about these,
and other events will appear in future editions of the Bulletin.
As well as the different activities on offer, it will be a busy time in the classroom, and many
of our boys will be experiencing their first examinations, set to commence on Wednesday
18 November. To undertake an examination period is invaluable for our Year 7 and 8 boys;
however, it can be a stressful time. Form Teachers will be running sessions on study skills and
examination techniques in PSC classes in the coming weeks. All in all there is a great deal to
look forward to and I am very much looking forward to a busy and fulfilling Term 4.

Open Day
Contents The first major event of the term is Open Day, which is being held this Saturday from 10.00am

Welcome Back to Term 4 activities in which to participate on the day. Many things are on offer and it promises to be
an enjoyable day for the boys as they act as ambassadors for our School. We do expect all

Year 8 Academic Challenge enjoy the company of family and friends.
Day
Term 4 is laden with opportunities for boys to demonstrate how much they have grown and
Junior School mastered over the course of the year. There is no better feeling than completing the year
knowing you have given it your best effort in terms of what you achieve and how you behave.
Science Talent Search
I am sure the boys have thought carefully about their goals and aspirations for the term ahead.
Life Education We are all looking forward to Open Day tomorrow and the opportunity to celebrate both what

Life Education
As part of the Health curriculum the mobile van from Life Education Victoria will be visiting the
Junior School from Tuesday 13 October to Thursday 15 October. During this time each class is
scheduled to have a class lesson tailored to suit the needs of the students. Some examples of
topics are healthy food choices, safety with medicines, passive smoking and issues relating to
alcohol. A parent information session is being held on Tuesday 13 October 8.30am to 9.00am
