Abstract

Metro Manila is the most populated region of the Philippines. And not every

citizen can attain quality education in all levels. State sponsored tertiary education in

metro manila are densely located in major cities which are Manila,Quezon City, San

Juan and Taguig City. Cities within the north of the metro (Caloocan,Malabon,Navotas

and Valenzuela) has limited access to a State university. Students in these areas seek

tertiary education in neighboring cities which is not efficient given that the poor

transportation system of the country is dreadful towards the citizens.

The annual budget of the government spending is allocated mostly in the

education sector yet the quality of public education is in poor condition. Most facilities

are poorly designed and not ideal for a pedagogical environment. The Philippines is

already left out in the advancement of architecture towards the education system. A lot

of factors in the environment is crucial to a pedagogical environment and climate is one

of the biggest problem education infrastructures encounter due to poor design.

Climate responsive architectural approach will be applied to the proposal thus

global warming causes abnormalities in the weather and climate changes happens

faster. A climate responsive design will address a better environment for the users by

analyzing the humidity, temperature, wind path, and solar radiation therefore will ensure

the wellbeing of the users by providing an ideal interior climate.

The ability of nature to overcome and adapt to changes in the environment.

Biomimetic design is a design innovation that imitates nature. Biomimetic design is also

a sustainable solution because of the minimal environmental impact and energy

efficiency of the design. The combination of biomimetic and climate responsive design

is a design solution that will be significant to the environmental implications and to

ensure physiological comfort of the users in a state university thus these concepts will

be applied in the proposal.
