2. Cyberbullying at your school, I also need information about the situation in your whole country.
What is the situation in your surrounding, city, region... And the exact motivation for your
participation (this is extremely important because the granting institution attaches great importance
to this.

In Romania the cyberbulling victimization is an important adolescent health issue. recent study reveals
that the rate of cyberbullying is higher now in Romania than in the other countries from Europe. About
45% of children were emotionally affected or offended in cyberspace in the past year, according to a
recent study conducted by Salvati Copii (Save the Children) organization. Over 20% of children say they
have seen or received sexual messages. Some 42% of them personally received a picture or a message
with explicit content, 8% were invited to talk about sexual acts, and 5% were asked to send a picture or
a video with their private parts. the offline bullying remained relatively constant, but the cyberbullying
rate increased by some 13%.

80% of Romanian teenagers under 18 were harassed online, according a study made
by Bitdefender, which shows that the main weapons for online attacks are regarding people’s
looks and way of dressing (67%), hobbies and day to day preoccupations (30%), the material
situation of their families (13%), school results (12%) and sexual orientation (8%).

Two thirds of those attacked online didn’t mention that to anyone, because they were afraid,
lack trust they could change something or didn’t believe it is necessary to involve other people.

Most popular social networks where cyber-bullying is happening are Facebook, Messenger and
Instagram, most used ways to spread the phenomena being menacing and negative messages via
private channels, followed by negative comments to photos and identity theft.
According to the study, 65% admit they were directly affected by the online bullying and noticed also
involuntary changes in their way of conducting following the aggression. Most say the incidents
decreased their self-trust and made them isolate, around 20% ended up depressed and 5%
compensated lack of online friends by consuming drugs and alcohol.

In Olt county and in our town Slatina, the situation of cyberbulling is the same. Our students use social
networks like facebook and 55% admit that they are menace and they received sexual messages and
comments .
