Engine Electronic Control - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during

performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service

Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Move the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

2. Move the fuel shutoff valve to the OFF position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual,
"Fuel Tank Shutoff and Drain Control".

3. Remove bottom guard (1).

4. Disconnect hose assemblies (4) and (6). Disconnect harness assembly (3). Remove nuts (2).
Remove engine electronic control (5).

Installation Procedure

1. Position engine electronic control (5). Install nut (2). Connect harness assemblies (3).

2. Tighten the bolts of harness assembly (3 ) to a torque of 6 ± 1 N·m (53 lb in). Connect hose
assemblies (4) and (6).

3. Install bottom guard (1).

4. Move the fuel shutoff valve to the ON position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual,
"Fuel Tank Shutoff and Drain Control".
 5. Move the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
