First of all, thanks to Allah SWT for the help of Allah, the author finished writing a

paper entitled "THE IMPORTANCE OF ENGLISH IN THE WORLD OF WORK" in the

calculated time. The purpose of writing this paper is to fulfill the assignments given by Mrs.

H. Iis as a teacher in chemical analysis 2. In compiling this paper, the writer really gets a lot

of challenges and obstacles but with the help of many individuals, the barrier can pass. The

author also realizes that there are still many mistakes in the process of writing this paper.

PRELIMINARY

2.1 Background
The scientific paper entitled "The Importance of English in the World of Work" is
knowing several aspects due to the times and the increasing number of foreign
companies entrenched in Indonesia, inevitably forcing job seekers to speak English
fluently. Because most of these companies are looking for employees who are able to
follow the rhythm and communication with clients who are not Indonesian citizens. It is
not wrong if the strict selection during the interview is applied by several well-known
companies. They certainly do not want to accept prospective employees who are
incompetent and fluent in foreign languages.

Speaking English fluently can be a plus for those who want to apply for a job.
Most interviewers did emphasize English from the beginning of the meeting. It is not
wrong if the survey proves that almost 55% of companies in Indonesia demand that
their employees use English actively. It is also intended to enhance the company's
image in the eyes of the public and their investors and clients. Cross-cultural
understanding that is not uncommon in English makes employees are required to be
better able to explore their abilities. Through several seminars held by the company, of
course employees will be more fluent in English. Cross-cultural communication is often
an obstacle when speakers and listeners have limited language. This is the reason why
most companies reject prospective employees who do not have basic English
qualifications. Of course communication will be much easier when you can speak a
foreign language with others. That is the importance of the relationship between
English and the World of Work.

English is the language used as a medium of communication and as the first
international language used to interact with others throughout the world.
2.2 The Importance of Learning English

When visiting other countries throughout the world, of course you do not
understand the local language. But, because English is a common language, as a
foreigner in a region you can use English to communicate.
2.2.2 Job Opportunities
Fluent in English will be a plus when looking for work because you can speak two
languages. In fact, you can get an international career if your English skills are
very good.
2.2.3 Innovation and Economic Development
Besides China, America is still a country that controls the development of
innovation and the world economy. And English is widely used in both fields.
2.2.4 English as an Adaptation Language
Every country that has been colonized is influenced by English. Therefore,
English is usually adapted as a second language, as in Germany, Norway, Sweden,
Denmark, and the Netherlands.
2.2.5 Knowledge
English is a language of knowledge. A lot of information is packaged in English.
For that, for those of you who want to gain and master a lot of knowledge, you
must be able to speak English.
2.2.6 Easy
English is based on the letters of the alphabet that are often used daily. When
compared with other languages that have certain letters, of course learning English
will be easier.
2.2.7 Film language
The world of cinema is dominated by films that use English. If you master English,
you don't need a translator when watching an English-language film.

Fluent in English opens up various opportunities for you without having to pay
attention to ethnicity, skin color, and background.
2.2.9 Study together
You can teach others to learn English if you have good language skills. After that,
if you both can, you and your partner can both use English to communicate.

Job prospects are mostly obtained by people who can speak English.
2.3 Reasons for the importance of English in the world of work
2.3.1 Historical Factor
England is known as an Imperialist country. In the 17-19th century, Britain
occupied 2/3 of the Earth. It is certain, the language used almost all over the
world is English.
2.3.2 Language Order
English has a neat language structure, so it is easy to apply in various aspects.
2.3.3 Advanced Civilization
England is known as a civilized country. With advanced thoughts, but still
assess certain norms. Becoming a mecca in advanced civilization, speaking
English becomes a demand if you want to follow British culture.

3.1 Conclusions
English is a world language and is also widely used language on the
internet. Almost every language book has been translated into English. So it's easy
to get world information if you know English. English is important to me because
English is an international language. We must prepare ourselves to face the era of
globalization. Today, many companies are recruiting their employees with
proficiency tests in English. We can get more and more information on the
Internet, but 80% information on the Internet uses English. I've heard that
intelligent people are people who can use certain languages. People must know
several languages, at least they can use two languages, the National language and
the International language. National languages are for communication for fellow
nations and international languages for communication to people from other
countries. Regional languages are important for communicating with people from
the same region, but at this time we rarely use regional languages.

Keep learning because without learning we will not understand anything
and get the knowledge and knowledge we want.
