Case:
A patient named Maya Mirabella, aged 58, was hospitalized with a diagnosis of Diabetes
Mellitus, the patient was treated for 2 days. The patient looks weak, pale and brooding. The
patient said that he felt restless and had difficulty sleeping. After being asked by the nurse it
turned out that the patient felt anxious because tomorrow his right leg would be amputated. Then
the nurse tried to help overcome the patient's anxiety, the nurse taught the five-finger relaxation
technique to the patient to overcome his anxiety.
Nurse : “Assalamualaikum.”
Patient : “Waalaikumsalam.”
Nurse : “Let me introduce my self, my name is ners Sabrina. What's your name?”
Patient : “My name is Maya Mirabella. Just call me Maya Nurse”
Nurse : “Okay mam, I will check your condition , I will accompany during 15minutes and the
place is here.”
Nurse : “Now I'm going to teach you five-finger relaxation techniques so that you can overcome
the anxiety your feels.”
Patient : “Yes Ners”
Nurse : “Well then, you pay attention to me, then you can follow my instructions.”
Patient : “Yes, Ners”
Nurse : “Let me begin, close your eyes, now touch your index finger with your thumb, then
imagine when you are healthy. Now, touch your middle finger, imagine when you are with
someone you love or love, then touch your ring finger, imagine when you are praised by
someone. Then touch your little finger, imagine the most beautiful place you have ever visited.
Now open your eyes, how do you feel?”
Patient : “I feel Relax enough nurses”
