UNIT STANDARDS:
Content Standard: The Learner demonstrates understanding of the musical characteristics of
representative music from the lowlands of Luzon.
Performance Standard: The learner performs music of the lowlands with appropriate pitch, rhythm,
expression and style.
LEARNING COMPETENCIES: 1. Identifies the musical characteristics of representative music
selections from the lowlands of Luzon after listening; 2. Analyzes the musical basics of some Lowland
vocal and instrumental music selections; 3. Explains the unique characteristics of representative
Philippine music selections from Luzon in relation to its culture and geography; 4. Explores ways of
producing sounds on a variety of sources that is similar to the instruments being studied; 5. Improvises
simple rhythmic/melodic accompaniments to selected music from the Lowlands of Luzon; 6. Performs
instruments/improvised instruments from Luzon lowlands; 7. Performs instruments/improvised
instruments from Luzon lowlands; 8. Creates appropriate movements or gestures to accompany the
music selections of the Lowlands of Luzon; 9. Provides harmonic accompaniments to selected music of
the Lowlands of Luzon; 10. Evaluates music and music performances applying knowledge of musical
elements and styles.

LEARNING TARGETS:
1.Demonstrate an understanding of musical elements and processes of Philippine music,
particularly the music of Luzon highlands.
2. Develop musical awareness and creativity in expressing oneself while doing the
fundamental processes in music.

FIRM UP
1. Gallery Walk- In around 6-8 minutes, share with groupmates their work. The leader will rewrite your
answers in a Manila paper and will be posted on the wall for Gallery Walk. Assign a gallery curator
(keeper) for each group to explain group’s work to the other groups.
2.Walk Through-Form a circle in a group, then they will listen and analyze the musical characteristics of
assigned music of lowland of Luzon. A Music Observation sheet will be given to each and one as your
student’s guide in identifying the musical characteristics (3-4 minutes).

TRANSFER:
There is much foreign music that invaded our land. With this, the Laguna Tourism Culture Arts Office
(LTCAO) is organizing a gathering that will inspire students to appreciate and perform music of the
lowlands. With expertise on tone, quality, pitch, rhythm, and style, the students will perform solo, duet
and in group to sing different genre to promote the cultural identity of the region. We will invite
students from the different school around the vicinity of the school.
