Wishpond Landing Page Activity

Design Principles
Make sure you have read Stukent Chapter 2 - Web Design and watched the Stukent Expert
Session: The 7 Principles of Conversion-Centered Design before completing this assignment.

Scenario
You just got hired by Kent's Camera Castle to help with their online marketing efforts.
One of the first projects you are tasked with is taking over an existing landing page selling the
GoPro Hero 4. It is performing poorly and now you get to look things over and apply your magic
to optimize the page for better performance using the principles learned in Stukent Chapter 2 -
Web Design and the Stukent Expert Session: The 7 Principles of Conversion-Centered Design.

A screenshot of the existing landing page is below:

The landing page is a single product landing page selling the GoPro Hero 4.
Kent's Camera Castle has a paid search manager named Brenda that manages pay per click and
display advertising campaigns. Brenda created this display ad below that will be used in sending
paid traffic to your new landing page once completed. Make sure that the updated landing page
matches in terms of design and message with the following advertisement:
Your Job
Within the last 30 days, the landing page in its current state gets 100 unique visits a day and
sells on average of .5 cameras a day.
Your boss wants you to increase the average daily sales to 5 GoPro Hero 4's a day.
As you look over the landing page, pay attention to the different elements, their positioning,
wording, colors, wow factors, etc...

There's no need to stress, you aren't expected to know or use any html code. Wishpond's
platform comes with an easy drag and drop design editor tool. You'll be able to easily drop,
remove, rearrange any elements you'd like. Want to change the text? Simply click and edit.

Getting started
1. Download your Wishpond assignment template “Landing-page.wpt”.
2. Create your free Stukent Wishpond account here:
https://www.wishpond.com/w/stukent {IMPORTANT: USE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS, DO
NOT SIGN UP WITH FACEBOOK OR GOOGLE ACCOUNT}
3. In the left sidebar, click the "Import Template" link towards the bottom.
4. Drag and drop (or click to browse files on your computer) the "landing-page.wpt" file
that you downloaded in step 1. This is your landing page template file in its current
state. You will optimize/edit this template.
5. Once the upload is complete, click on the template thumbnail, or the green highlighted
text to view the template. YOU'VE SUCCESSFULLY IMPORTED YOUR TEMPLATE!

Now it’s time to get to work redesigning the landing page to better incorporate design match
and message match as well as the 7 principles of conversion-centered design.

Submission Instructions
Once you are finished, please publish your landing page to the Wishpond server and submit
your assignment with a link to your newly revamped GoPro Hero 4 landing page. To generate
the link click on “publish” and then copy the URL.
Please submit the link to your published landing page on Canvas under the assignment named
“Wishpond Landing Page” (copy and paste the link into a word doc). In that same document list
the 7 principles of conversion-centered design and describe how you designed the landing page
to include those attributes. For the principle of “Continuance” simply describe what your next
conversion would be after a consumer makes a purchase (since you can’t really incorporate it
into the design).

Grading
This assignment is worth 30 points. Make sure your submission includes a working link to your
landing page and a description of how your design utilized the principles of Attention, Context,
Clarity, Congruence, Credibility, and Closing. For the principle of “Continuance” simply describe
what your next conversion would be after a consumer makes a purchase (since you can’t really
incorporate it into the design). Also, make sure that your updated landing page matches the
design and messaging of the advertisement discussed earlier. See the Rubric on Canvas for more
grading details.
