Technical Requirements

1. Related Reference standards:

1.1. GIS/PL 2 part 1: Polyethylene pipes and fittings for natural gas and
suitable manufactured gas, general and Polyethylene Compounds
for use in polyethylene pipes and fittings.
1.2. EN 1555 part 1: Plastic Piping Systems for the supply of Gases
Fuels (PE), general.
1.3. TC.PE.001: Egypt Gas Technical Requirements P.E Electrofusion
Fittings.
1.4. TC.PE.002 Egypt Gas Technical Requirements P.E Pipes.
1.5. TC.PE.00* Egypt Gas Technical Requirements P.E Valves.
1.6. TC.PE.007 Egypt Gas Technical Requirements P.E Transition
Fitting & Polyethylene Coupling.

2. General:

2.1. This document specifies the technical requirements of polymers used

for PE pipes and fitting PE-80 and PE-100.
2.2. This document is a supplementary to documents TC.PE.001,
TC.PE.002 and TC.PE.006 and TC.PE.007.
2.3. All specifications stated above shall be the latest edition.
2.4. Other national or international standards, which promise to confer
equal or better quality, could be also acceptable upon Egypt Gas
approval.
2.5. The accepted polymers by Egypt Gas are in the attached list in
Annex (I).
2.6. Other polymers that are not within the list of Egypt Gas approved
polymers shall go through an approved process before being
accepted.

2.7. To introduce a polymer that is not within Egypt Gas approved list,
the following documents shall be provided for technical evolution:-
1) Technical data sheet of the polymer.

2) The bidder shall submit a valid conformity certificates from

one of the following approved firms or its successors or its
accredited bodies which declare that the polymer is in
accordance to the above mentioned specs.

 EOS Egypt (For batch release tests only)

3) Reference list for pipe and fitting made of this polymer and
supplied to gas companies, the list shall specify (product,
product manufacturer, client, client contacts, year …)

4) For PE-100 polymers approved by the PE-100 plus

association is an advantage.

2.8. It should be clear that the evaluation and assessment of a new
polymer is a process that requires time that may exceed the time
dedicated for the technical study of a (Fitting or Pipes) Bid. The
suppliers are encouraged to continuously update any new polymer
they intend to use regardless of any prospective Fitting or Pipe Bid.

2.9. If a new polymer is accepted by Egypt Gas, it is not an obligation to

be inserted in Egypt Gas Polymers approved list until it is deemed to
approve satisfactory performance by Egypt Gas.

2 . 1 0 . For polymers that are not in Egypt Gas approved list, fulfilling the
above mention requirements do not guarantee Egypt Gas acceptance.
The complete assessment of introducing a polymer is Egypt Gas
solely decision.
