INTRA MOOT COURT COMPETITION, 2018

RULES AND REGULATIONS

The following Rules shall be called the Intra Moot Court Competition, 2018.

Wherein,

• Organizers mean the Moot Court Committee, School of Law, Raffles University.

• Competition means the Intra Moot Court Competition, 2018.

• Participating Students means the Students that have registered themselves for the
competition as per the rules.
• Venue means Moot Court Hall, School of Law, Raffles University, Neemrana.

The Rules mentioned herewith are not exhaustive. The Rules shall be strictly adhered to, and any
deviation from the same shall result in negative marking. All decisions made by the Organizers in
case of any disputes, doubts or other problems of such nature, shall be final and binding on the
participating students. The Organizers further reserve the right to alter, amend or add Rules herein
at any point of time. Imposition of penalties is exclusively the right of the Organizers, in case the
Rules are not adhered to by the Participating teams.

I. GENERAL:

1. Date: The Competition shall be held on 15th September 2018 at the School of Law,
Raffles University, Neemrana.
2. Dress Code: Participants are required to adhere to the following dress code while present
in any court room during the Competition.
i. Ladies: White shirt and black pant/black skirt along with black coat and black shoes.

ii. Gentlemen: White shirt, black trousers, black tie along with black coat and black shoes.
II. THEME:

1. The moot proposition for the Intra Moot Court Competition, 2018 is based on
Constitutional Law, Law of Torts and Corporate Crime.

III. LANGUAGE:

1. The official language for the Competition shall be English only.

IV. ELIGIBILITY:

1. The Competition shall be open for students from 1st to 3rd year of integrated law
programme from the School of Law.

V. MEMORIALS:

1. All requirements have to be strictly followed. Non-adherence to the same shall result
in negative marking from the sum total of the evaluation of written submissions.
2. The students shall have to prepare the memorials from the side that is allotted to them
after the draw of lots immediately following the registration of participants, on the next
day.
3. The soft copies of the memorial from the allotted side should reach the Organizers on
mcc@rafflesuniversity.edu.in in .doc or .docx format latest by 12th September, 2018
before 23:59hrs (11:59 pm).
4. Any submissions of written submissions made after 11.59 PM will entail a negative
marking of 1 mark per hour of delay made in the submissions. For example, if the
submissions has been made at 4:00 AM on 13th September, 2018, 4 marks will be
deducted from the total of 100 marks, and the submission of the eindividual will be
evaluated from a total of 96 marks only.

5. Three hard copies of the memorial from the allotted side should be submitted to the
organisers latest by 14th September 2018 before 17:00 hrs (05:00 pm).
6. Format of Memorials.

i. Cover Page: The cover page of the memorial must state the following:
• Code number, as assigned (for further details about the Code number, refer
to “Section VII” below) on upper Left-hand side corner.

• The Case Title

• Colour of the cover page must be

 Blue in case of Petitioner/Appellant.

 Red in case of Defendant/ Respondent.

The Party for which the Memorial has been prepared.

iii. The Index of Authorities.
iv. The Statement of Jurisdiction.
v. The Statement of Facts.
vi. The Statement of Issues.
vii. The Summary of Arguments.
viii. The Arguments Advanced.
ix. The Prayer.
7. Memorial General Format:

i. Spacing: 1.5 Line Spacing

ii. Margins: One-inch margin on all sides of each page.


iii. Font: The font for the body of the memorial shall be times New Roman, Size 12.
iv. The Font for the footnotes: The font of the footnotes shall be Times New Roman,
Size 10.
8. Memorials shall be stapled only.

9. Page numbering should be at the bottom middle of each page.

10. Participants shall cite authorities in their Memorials by way of 20th Edition of
Bluebook Style of Citation.
11. The maximum number of pages is 15 pages for Written Submissions/Arguments
Advanced and maximum 25 pages for memorial.
12. The Memorials should not be plagiarized. Any plagiarism in the memorials shall entail
negative marking, for every 5 percent of plagiarism found in the memorials, 1 mark
shall be dedcuted from the sum total of the memorial’s evaluation. If, however, overall
plagiarized content exceeds 60 per cent, the memorial shall be disqualified from any
further evaluation, subject to the discretion of Organizers.

VI. CLARIFICATIONS:

1. The moot proposition shall remain the way it is and no change shall be made whatsoever.

2. The Organizers further reserve their right to alter, amend or add to the moot proposition
and the same shall be intimated to all the Participants well in advance.
3. Clarifications regarding matters other than the moot proposition may be sought from the
Organizers.

VII. REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS


1. The students shall confirm their participation latest by 28th August, 2018, by sending an
email confirming their participation to mcc@rafflesuniversity.edu.in.
2. Any application for participation made after 11.59 PM on 28th August, 2018 shall not be
taken into consideration. Kindly ensure your participation before the assigned date.
3. The students shall have to participate in a draw of lots on 29th August, 2018 at evening
5:00 PM in the School of Law, Raffles University, where they shall be assigned their Code
Numbers, and they shall be allotted the side they will have to argue from in the Preliminary
Rounds of the Event.
4. Upon assignment of the Code Numbers to the participants, the soft copies of the memorials
shall have to be subumitted by the participating students last by September 12th, 2018
11:59 PM.
VIII. ROUNDS OF THE EVENT:
1. Once the draw of lots have taken place on August 29th, 2018 5:00 PM, the students shall
participate in the Preliminary Rounds of the event. The draw of lots shall decide the side
they will have to argue upon in the Prelims.
2. Upon their respective scores in the Preliminary Rounds, top two scorers on the basis of
the total marks (Oral arguments+Written Submissions) shall proceed for the Final Round
of the Event.
3. The Highest Scorer in the Final Rounds shall be declared as the Winner of the Intra Moot
Court, 2018.
