Preparing A Reflection/Re-entry Action Plan: An Individual Assignment (IA)

Rationale

This capability development course is designed to enhance the individual character and managerial
competencies of mid- management level personnel of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS). One
of the adult learning methodology incorporated in this training program, is reflection/ re-entry action
planning.

A reflection/re-entry action plan is an instrument to review and evaluate upon and implement personal
learnings. It helps the participants become more conscious and clear of what they learn from the
training program. It is operationalization of a new paradigm (concepts, principles, procedures and
processes) to improve their performance as supervisor in the workplace.

Objectives

Specifically, the objectives of this activity are for the participants to:

1. Select one(1) module the participants felt very relevant, useful and timely to enhance
performance as mid-management level personnel;
2. Review and evaluate the learning experiences on the chosen module;
3. List the lessons learned as a result of the review and evaluation of the learning experiences;
4. Write about the learning points of interest that could improve supervisory performance in line
with the NMIS core values and encourage staff/supervisees’ productivity;
5. Take note of the learning points you want to implement when you go back to your respective
work station; and
6. Plan how to implement them.

Expected Output

Each participant is expected to prepare a reflection/re-entry action plan on the chosen module of not
less than five (5) pages. either legibly hand written or computerized (font arial, 11, 1.5 spacing).

About five (5) to ten (10) participants will be selected and evaluated by the resource person in-charge
to present the reflection/re-entry action plan in a plenary session.

Guidelines

The following guidelines will help the participants prepare their reflection/re-entry action plan:

1. What particular module that strike me most to improve my duties and responsibilities as
supervisor? Why?
2. Which topic or subject in the chosen module do I consider important or interesting? Why?
3. Select from among the list of the lessons or experiences learned and focus on this as your
“reflection”. These are your learning points. Write the details.
4. Finally, work out a re-entry action plan that covers:
- What am I going to do?
- When am I going to do it?
5. Spell out your re-entry action plan, using the template as precisely as possible so that it is
realistic and you are clear on how to implement it
