STATIC ELECTRICITY

Have you noticed that after taking your clothes out of the dryer, the clothes are stuck together? This is because your
clothes build up electric charges by friction as they rub against each other inside the dryer. The build up of electric charges on an
object called STATIC ELECTRICITY. The charges create static electricity do not move away from the object they are stuck to.
Therefore, the object remain charged. Positive charges build up on some of the clothes in the dryer, and negative charges build up
on other clothes. And because clothing is an insulator, the charges stay on each piece of clothing, creating static electricity.

Positive Plus Negative Equals STATIC RELATIONSHIP
Chemistry teaches you that a normal atom is electrically neutral – having the same number of charged particles, namely
proton and electron. However, when two neutral objects are rubbed against each other, both objects become charged as electrons
may be removed or transferred from one object to another.
This phenomenon is usually exemplified in physics when a teacher asks a student to comb her/his hair to observe an
electric charge. Rubbing a plastic comb against your hair removes electrons, making it positively charged; while transferring the
electrons to the comb makes it negatively charged body. As a result , the hair stick to the comb because of static electricity.
Throughout a lifetime, we are in constant contact with hundreds or thousands of people within our horizons. As the level
of relationship deepens , so does the influence of people in our lives. Our experiences with them can be positive or negative,
depending on the circumstances and the choices we make.
Like the comb and the hair , one must be willing to give up something to sustain the relationship. For instance, a friend
gives out material things like gifts during special occasions while parents provide shelter, love, and guidance to their children.
Sharing what we have gives us the feeling of contentment while receiving gifts makes us feel more important. However, positions
must be changed for when the relationships becomes one-sided, the interaction disintegrates until such time that the mutual bond
comes to an end.
Play the role of both the hair and comb….GIVE-TAKE-GIVE is the secret of the static electricity.
DO: LIFE LESSONS /The Law of Charges ; All like charges repel (push away from) each other and All unlike charges attract (pull
towards each other)
