CHAPTER lll

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter involved the research design used in the study, the respondents,

explain the procedures in making the instruments as well as the strategies in collecting

the data and lastly, it provides the data collection procedure and how they are analyzed.

Research Design

The research designed used in this study is qualitative research since it seeks for

the role of local food in promotion of tourism. In this study, descriptive approach will be

use. Descriptive research is a research design wherein events are recorded, described,

interpreted, analyzed and compared. This method aimed to describe the nature of the

situation as it exists at the time of the study and to explore the cause of particular

phenomenon. It involves the collection of data in order to test the hypothesis or answer

questions regarding the current status of the subject of the study (Briones, 2007).

Respondents of the study

The respondents of this study are the costumers and restaurant owners within

Talisay. The costumers and restaurant owners are the one who fits to our research to

be the respondents because they know the local food here in Talisay and they also

experience how local food improve and They are chosen to be the participants because

they have the capacity to give the necessary information regarding the local Food

preference of tourists of Talisay, Batangas.

Sampling technique

The sampling technique that will be use in this research is the purposive

sampling technique since this research looks for the respondents who is rich in

experience when it comes to local food. Purposive research sampling is a sampling

technique in which the researcher relies on his or her own judgement when choosing

members of population to participate in the study. According to Oliver (2006), the study

used purposive "non-probability sampling in which decisions concerning the individuals

to be included in the sample are taken by the researcher, based upon a variety of

criteria which may include specialist knowledge of the research issue.”

Research instruments

The research instruments that will be used is the one-on-one interview which will

be recorded. The researchers used on-on-one interview as a major tool for gathering

data relevant to determine the role of local food in promotion of tourism in Talisay,

Batangas. Respondents answers the related question of the researcher which will be

recorded. The Interview was chosen for the convenience and speed in terms of

gathering information that is necessary in the accomplishment of this study. In order to

arrive at reliable and understandable instruments, the researcher studies some of the

previous investigation relevant to this study, books and journals.

Data analysis procedure

All the data and information gathered will be analyze by the researchers to have

knowledge and better understanding about the topic. The information will have a great
help to the study. The purpose of recording the whole interview is to analyze it quickly

and to have a copy since we do not have questionnaires or checklist.
