INTRODUCTION

Automation is a transaction conducted or performed, in whole or in

part, by electronic means or electronic records, in which the acts or records of

one or both parties are not reviewed by an individual in the ordinary course in

forming a contract, performing under an existing contract or fulfilling an

obligation required by the transaction. In our generation computer is

considered the lifeblood of society. It makes people’s job easier than before,

almost all company using automation for any kind of transactions like saving

files or data, online transactions, Reservations and others. An automation

project for Acebedo Optical is to help their

establishment to automation include higher production rates and increased

productivity, more efficient use of materials, better product quality, improved

safety, shorter workweeks for labor, and reduced factory lead times.

In the Philippines, when one says optical shop, the first name that

comes to mind is Acebedo Optical. Although market statistics are not available,

Acebedo Optical is an Ophthalmology (Eye Doctor) Clinic, they offered also

eye lens, eye glasses frame that suit your style and get free eye check-up. In

terms of their business flow they are using almost manually transactions in

terms of inventory of items, they are not using point of sale or (POS) for

costumer payment and they are using bundy clock for record the starting and
quitting times of their employees, even they can easily claim to be the one of

biggest optical business in the country, in terms of size and market share.

Acebedo Optical also offered big discount to their costumers

especially to their special lenses like crizal because crizal lenses are one of the

number one brand of lenses, they offered 20% discounts in lenses and 50% on

frame and it is one of their marketing strategy to increased their daily sales and

to give back to their regular costumers that always support and purchasing

frames, Regarding with the frame they offered different designs depend on the

idea or types of the costumers. The company was originally started since 1982

but here in General Santos City Acebedo Optical shop started year 2016.

In General Santos City there are eight (8) optical operates here in our

city and one of them is Acebedo Optical, The rest are Executive Optical, EO

Executive Optical, Prosight Optical, DJ Delnorte Optical Clinic, Aced Optical,

Dinio Optical Clinic and Vintage Vision. Felix Acebedo opened his optical shop

with the objective of servicing the vast majority of poor people who cannot afford

the services of an optical company.

Felix Acebedo opened his optical shop with the objective of servicing the vast

majority of poor people who cannot afford the services of an optical company.

He delivered quality optical service with specialized attention and gave special

discounts to the poor, related incentives to the rest, and many times rendered

service gratis. This customer-oriented type of service paid off. The shop

steadily increased its clientele and soon, Acebedo branches were being

opened in different parts of the country.

For 35 years until 1963, the company was under the sole proprietorship of

Felix B. Acebedo. In 1963 however, he decided to have the firm incorporated

under the name of Acebedo Optical Co., Inc. His son, Miguel P. Acebedo

became involved in the family business early in his life and became Vice

President in 1962. Before this, however, he acquired experience in New York

as sales representative for Carlwise Optical in 1953-54. It was in 1980 that

Miguel Acebedo embarked on a long-term, intensive expansion plan. For

about 8 years until 1988, an average of 4 branches a year were opened. And

in 1989, the Visayas-Mindanao Region was penetrated. During this year, 15

branches were opened in the Vis-min Region and 25 branches in other parts

of the country. At present, there are almost a hundred Acebedo Optical

branches all over the Philippines .
