TITLE: “SCHOOL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY MULTI-SENSORY LEARNING AREA”
AT MASICAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: A WORKPLAN

I. RATIONALE

Masical Elementary School is humbly located at Masical, Amulung, Cagayan, a

barangay in the Western part of Amulung about 20 kilometers from Tuguegarao City. It
has a total land area of 725,450 square meters and 1,788 populace - the biggest in the
Western part of Amulung.

The school is one among the biggest learning institutions in the district. It has 7
classrooms. These classrooms are conducive for learning. The school has modern
facilities like laptops (owned by teachers but for classroom use) TV sets in all
classrooms, CD/DVD Player and Sound System.

However, with these facilities, the school lacks other structures. One of these is
a School Science and Technology Multi – Sensory Learning Area which will be very
beneficial to the pupils.

INTRODUCTION

The Philippines like any other countries of the world is faced with enormous
challenges like the boom of International Standard operations (ISO), Information Technology (IT) and
increased global competitiveness. Everywhere in the country, all agencies of government, all sectors
public and private, are all striving to gear all efforts to cope with these challenges. The Department of
Education, as one of the government’s agencies is mandated by the constitution to educate the
country’s most important wealth – its citizens, is doing its best to improve the quality of education to
produce competitive Filipinos.
Though efforts are anchored on the concept of quality education, results of
standardized test in English, Math and Science shows that excellence is still a dream. The low
achievement level of school children is a challenge to all learning institutions. Education sector is
exerting all possible efforts to improve learning abilities of pupils, thus, the conception of this plan.
The plan is envisioned to make School Science and Technology Multi-Sensory
Learning Area more enjoyable and meaningful for school children through outdoor instruction where
pupils will be able to have hands on and minds on learning.

II. A. OBJECTIVES:
The school Science and Technology Multi-Sensory Learning Area have the
following objectives:

1. To help increase the achievement level of the pupils particularly in Science.

2. To enhance pupils knowledge and skills in Science.
3. To provide hands – on activities and first – hand experiences.
4. To be used as laboratory for outdoor Science where pupils can learn actual things like
ecosystem, and others.
5. To serve as a rest area for the pupils during vacant time.
6. To fully motivate and increase the interest of pupils towards Science.

B. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Every school aims to increase its achievement level in all learning areas.
Likewise, improving its physical facilities for the benefit of the school children is also an aim.
Masical Elementary School aims the same, thus, the conception of the project
“School Science and Technology Multi – Sensory Learning Area”.
To achieve optimum result, the proponent will hire skilled carpenter to
construct the learning area. Science concepts which will be seen in the park are wind vane, herbal
garden, planetarium, sun dial and many others. The existence of this structure in the school
complements and supplements the knowledge and skills gained inside the classroom. It also
provides first hand experiences through hands – on activities which are being performed in the said
park.
To motivate pupils to use the park for learning, it will be planted with different
ornamental plants. These will be done through the help of the Science Club Officers, SGC and the
General PTA Officers who will serve as partners of the proponent in the realization of the project.

C. PROJECT STRATEGY

To achieve favourable result of the plan, the proponent will use the following
strategies in the implementation of the work plan:

1. Solicit fund from the stakeholders

2. Identify skilled carpenter and painter to construct and paint the different structures needed in
the School Science and Technology Multi-Sensory Learning Area.
3. Let the officers and members of the Science club bring stones, rounds woods, drift woods,
ornamental and flowering plants to be used as material in the landscaping of the park.
4. Guide and help the pupils to landscape and plant ornamental and flowering plants in the park
during free time and after classes in the afternoon.
5. Organize a School Science Club that will manage the maintenance of the cleanliness of the area.

D. EXPECTED PROJECT OUTPUT

Utilizing the mentioned strategies in the implementation of the project, a School

Science and Technology Multi-Sensory Learning Area will be constructed with the following
expected outputs:

1. Php 76,000.00 - Proceeds from the Fund Raising Activity “Little Mr. and Miss Masical 2014” to
finance the project.
2. Science structures will be constructed.
3. All grade levels will help in putting up the School Science and Technology Multi-Sensory Learning
Area.
4. The Science Club will manage the maintenance of the park.
5. A functional School Science and Technology Multi – Sensory Learning Area will be utilized by
teachers and pupils and the community.

E. IMPACT/BENEFIT

The idea of putting up this project is not only focused on the physical development of
the school but most importantly on the academic development of the pupils particularly in Science. It is
also in accord to making Science learning enjoyable and meaningful to the pupils. Therefore, the pupils
primarily benefit because they are the direct clientele of this project.

After implementing the project, the pupils of Masical Elementary School will benefit
from the good effects it brings. The pupils then will no longer confine themselves inside the classroom
while learning but they will experience innovative setting of learning Science.

F. FUTURE DIRECTION:

Through the support of the school personnel, the barangay, SGC and PTA Officials and
other stakeholders, this project is moving towards the physical development of the school and
improvement of the learning capabilities of pupils particularly in Science. It can be used as an additional
venue in teaching Science outside the classroom.
