Findings, Conclusions and Recommendations

After thorough study and careful analysis of the project, concerns and

considerations in the cultural promenade’s planning have been determined. Outcomes

have been derived to form possible solutions which focused on the technical, operational,

and environmental considerations of the proposal.

8.1 Findings

By answering the statements of the problem, the results of this research and the

proposed project entitled, “CYNOSURE: A Biophilic Approach to the New Gateway to

Batangas Province – A Proposed Batangas International Airport” which is in San Pascual,

Batangas supports the following findings:

 The benefits from airside and landside projects can be summarized into: reduction

of travel, access and waiting time; improvements in service reliability and

predictability; reduction in operating costs and increases in traffic.

 The planning of landside and airside development should be taken account such

considerations like environment protection and limitations, flexibility and

sustainability.

 All facilities and utilities should be properly installed in accordance with the general

practices and existing laws.

 The design of all airport structures offers great opportunity to cultural authenticity.

Thus, it creates identity of the place in relation to the architectural concepts of the

proponent.

The results of analysis and findings are expected to point out the conclusions that are

relevant to the study.

8.2 Conclusions

Based on the existing problems and relating it to the findings mentioned, the

researcher formulated conclusions and answers regarding the study.

 Architectural, Building/Structures utilities and maintenance must relate to

complexity and advanced technology.

 Good architectural programming and site analysis must be given priority as well.

 Basic planning criteria in development of passenger terminals include: easy

orientation, simplicity, minimize walking distances, minimize level changes,

minimize passenger cross-flows, compatibility of facilities with aircraft

characteristics, and, built-in flexibility to accommodate future changes in dynamic

industry.

 All construction materials considered for use in the construction of the building are

subjected to environmental review.

 All common areas within the project are designed for an appreciation of the

environment.

 All installation with respect to the provision of heat and ventilation, air-conditioning,

electricity, and other utilities in place must be carefully accomplished.

 The architectural concept and design should comply with the natural elements and

cultural identity of the place and the landscapes as well as the idea of Biophilic

Design.

 Design the structure that will showcase the concept of abstract symbolism.

 Indoorscapes, indoor gardens and water features inside the passenger terminal

building should be properly placed for the benefit and convenience of all users.

 The use and application of the following: seismic base isolation system for the

earthquake, the application of Biophilic Design, the use of dynamic and smart glass

to prevent heat from going inside the building, the use of space frame system, the

use of solar panels and the living wall system inside the terminal building.

 The passenger terminal building will have sleeping lounges, prayer room, well-

wisher’s area, common area for all people, the placing of indoor gardens and

water features and the interactive areas wherein people can socialize and take a

rest.

 Providing less manual security check points, which is the main cause of

passenger inconvenience with most airports, and installing more advanced

solutions like surveillance equipment and x-ray systems.

The proponent concluded that in order to come up to a design that fits the users,

analyzing the convenience of the user of the proposed project should be considered.

8.3 Recommendations

The proponent recommends the following to attain the success of the proposed

development of Batangas International Airport:

 There must be thorough study and analysis of the environmental impact of the

proposed project within the vicinity of the site to ensure safety.

 There should have a deeper investigation on the contour condition of the site to

properly construct the runway, utilities, and buildings.

 There should be thorough study and analysis of allied engineering services like the

aeronautical services and maintenance, structure stability, and sewage disposal

system.

 The government and the tourism industry must continue to pursue other

alternatives to enhance the development of the province.

 The government should inform the people in the vicinity of the site of both the good

and adverse effects of the development of Batangas International Airport.

 Areas for future expansion for the mean time can be used as commercial or rental

spaces to help the return of investment.

 In designing and planning, environmental impact should be considered.

 Further research and study are highly recommended.

 All affected families, properties, structures, etc., of project and activities such as

land acquisition, need to be settled on or before the commencement of

construction.
