What I’ve learn in this LESSON:

I’ve learn that contemporary art is an art that is existing or happening at the same time of
same age.

The reason why traditional becomes contemporary is because of the practices of artists
awardees of GAMABA shown just like what TEOFILO GARCIA did and shown to many people
was an example, because it involves the interface of local scientific knowledge and art. Prior to
crafting the hat, the growth of enlarged TABUNGAW was made possible through techniques that
manage the interplay of seed, earth and forces of nature within a particular duration.

GAMABA is emphasis on the intangible and communal art practices on the intangible
and communal art practices. When we say Traditional art, it means that it finds a deep
affinities with nature, place, society, rituals and spiritual and everyday life. The things that are
produced by traditional arts just like baskets, textiles, hats, or utensils are most commonly
found in homes. They also have their rituals songs and dances that are being performed as a
group.

THE PRODUCTION PROCESS AND THE CHANGING ENVIRONMENT

In this generation, we prefer of the modernization or what we know as changing

environment. For example, the grain fields are ruined because some facilities or buildings are
going to construct on that area. Because of this factors, the traditional artist’s mode production
are continuously affected.

Here are some of the factors that affects the traditional artist’s production process:

TOURISM- With the combined forces of natural disasters and tourist mobility, some land areas
are turned into sites for tourist consumption. This affects the traditional artists because the nature
was being ruined just for the sake of money that the people gain from the tourists.
 MINING AND INFRASTRACTURE PROJECT- Mining can cause a natural disaster but at the
same time, the disasters can also be caused by human. It can lessen the land areas of it may cause
flooding and landslides.

MILITARIZATION- Militarized zones arrest the people that have the ability to create art
because of insecurity. Because they are insecure by those people who knows how to create art,
they are just arresting them without fooling those artist around.

CHRISTIANIZATION- The foreign religion have caused the members of the community to
forsake their indigenous rituals and traditions. They are led to believe that the latter are primitive
so that their practices has no place in contemporary culture. GAMABA recognizes exceptional
artists who are engaged in the traditional arts.

The changing times continue to pose major or challenges to the environment and the traditional
artists production process.

The role of the GAMABA is to pass on their artistic knowledge to the community, top inspire
them and to ensure that the aspects of their cultural identity continue to thrive.

CONTEMPORARY ARTS and TRADITIONAL ARTS must be always in our hearts and
mind because it is a part of the history and a part of our lives today.

What is the importance of contemporary arts?

C0NTEMPORARY ARTS is important because it has the most important era that there ever
has been in art. By creating new pieces through postmodernism, abstract expressionism, and pop
art, we are doing an incredible job of holding up a mirror to science, philosophy, and society.
There has never been a time where art is more important than it is now.
 There’s a reason why contemporary arts isn’t reveled by society, they don’t understand it.
The truth of the matter is that the diverse perspectives that are expressed through contemporary
art are incredibly valuable to society, and reflect the many changes that we’ve had both in
philosophy and in science over the course of our lifetimes. One thing is always going to be true
contemporary art is a snapshot of what it was like to live in our present day society, which is
going to be valuable in the history of art.
