CHAN, RICA MAE G.

DMD-4D

Last Saturday, February 08, 2020. It’s our first field work in

community dent III. Our chosen barangay is also our chosen barangay last

semester in community dent II, the Barangay 836, Zone 91, Pandacan

Manila. Last semester they are our chosen day care to protect and to

prevent the oral health of the children there. We did oral health education,

oral prophylaxis and topical fluoride application.

Now it’s community dentistry III, our duty is open for all the

residences of the said brgy. We will adapt at least 1 family per group. Our

groups consist of 3-4 members. Our theme or goal is “Zero Bungi”

program. We arrived there at 8 am. Dr. Sadural gave us instructions on

what we need to do. First, we need to protect ourselves because we are all

aware that there is already Novel Corona Virus here in our country

particularly in Metro Manila. Ncov is dangerous and contagious and not just

for the Ncov but also to the different diseases that an individual may

acquire. We must wear surgical face mask and proper hand hygiene, in our

situation we may not able to wash our hands there so we bring alcohol
instead. We must protect each other, it’s not about to ours but also to the

residences of the said barangay.

As a dentistry students and the dentists, we must be always clean

and protected because we are dealing with the oral cavity of the human

being. There are lots of diseases that may be transmitted through saliva,

bloods and airborne diseases and etc that may transmit to us, so as a

responsible one, we must always be aware, have a proper hygiene to

ourselves, to our materials and for the protection of the patients.

We goes around in the Brgy to have an ocular visit only. We find

families to adapt. We are not allowed yet to check their oral cavity because

we need to have a go signal first to perform checking and procedures.
