GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

 Group Counseling

Introduction : We have different guidance services which are intended in helping the students to reach
their optimum development and help them to cope up with the struggles and difficulties that they are
experiencing as a student. This morning, we will have a role play in counselling services, wherein we will
give focus on group counselling.

Narrator : It was early in the morning, the students are free do to anything while waiting for their
teacher to come, some students are studying their lessons and some are just playing mobile games. Joy
is one of the students who is fond of studying and because of that she always get high score in their
exams and quizzes.

Teacher : Good morning class!

Students : Good morning mam!

Teacher : I would like you to get a ¼ sheet of paper. We will have a quiz with the lesson that we tackled
yesterday.

Narrator : After the quiz.

Teacher : Who got a perfect score?

Angelle : Me.

Teacher : Who got 1?

Teacher : The two of you always get a low score.

Narrator : The teacher know that the reason why some of the students get low score is because of
playing mobile games because she always caught her students playing mobile games even while they
are having their class. She even confiscated their cell phones.

Teacher : Aj and Alabat. Why are you two not listening? What are you both doing? What?! The two of
you are just playing mobile games while we were on the discussion of our lesson?! Give me your phone.
I want to talk to the both of you after the class.

Narrator : After the class. The teacher talk to the students and give them some advice.

Teacher : It is not good that you are playing mobile games during class hours. That is what the reason
why the 2 of you are always getting low scores. Look at your classmates, look at joy, she always study
her lesson and listening to the class that why she is getting good grades. I hope the two of you can do
the same.

Students : We promise that we will not do it again mam.

One day, while joy is busy studying in the classroom, her classmates came and encourage her to join in
playing ml.

Aj : Hey joy! Join us in playing this new mobile games.

Joy : I am busy. Remember we will have our midterm next week.

Kyndie : Would please stop influencing joy in playing mobile games.

Alabat : Come on. We have to relax for some time. Just try.

Joy : Im afraid I might be addicted in playing mobile games.

Narrator : If I were the both, I will just study to get high score in the midterm exam.

Aj : No you wont. Just try and you will enjoy.

Angelle : ok. Can you teach me how to play.

Narrator : Joy got addicted in playing mobile games because of her classmates influence. Then the
midterm exam came.

Teacher : today is our midterm exam. I will give you the test paper and answer it silently.

Narrator : After the exam, the teacher checked the papers. She was shocked because joy got a low score
which is not usual. She call the attention of joy.

Teacher : I was shocked with your score during the midterm. You got a low score.

Angelle : I got sick that why I wasn’t able to focus on my studies.

Teacher : ok. I would like you to good next time, but I know you can.

Narrator : After that, she now always caught joy and her classmates playing mobile games in class and
joy and her classmates still got low grades during the exams and quizzes. The teacher was alarmed and
decided to talk to the guidance counsellor.

Teacher : I had a problem mam. My students are always getting low scores in their exam and quizzes. I
already called their attention but still they continue in playing mobile games which ruin their studies.

Charlene : we have to do something about it. Tell them that they should visit my office tomorrow. We
will have a group counselling so we can help them. There might be other reason why they are behaving
like that.

Narrator : The students then came to the office of the guidance counsellor together with their teacher
for group counselling.

Charlene : Your teacher talk to me and she told me that you always get low score during exam and
quizzes and she thinks that it is because of playing mobile games. Playing games are not bad as long as it
is in moderation. You have to always bear in your minds that you have priorities in your lives and as of
now what you have to prioritize is your studies for you to be able to have a good future. What does
playing mobile games give to you.

Aj : My parents are always not in our house. Playing games is the only thing I can do, I just divert my
attention to playing for me not to miss my parents.

Alabat : I always scold by my parents even without any reason. Yes, they are always in our house not like
the parents of Aj, but they just keep on nagging each other.
Angelle : I was just influenced by them. I never thought that things will gone wrong. I want to change my
attitude and I want to get high scores again as same as before.

Aj : Were so sorry maam and we promise not to do it anymore.

Angelle : We promis that we will focus on studies.

Charlene : Im hope everyone is enlighten with your wrong doings. I am looking forward for everyone to
change their attitude because this is not for us, its for the good sake of each of you.
