Strengths of Hershey Company


1. Memiliki portofolio brand produk yang sangat baik (totaling approximately $1.6
billion in 2018, which affords the Company significant financial flexibility)
2. Memiliki citra brand yang baik karena mendapatkan banyak pengharagaan terkait
social responsibility (tergabung dalam Dow Jones Sustainability Index dan The Civic
50)
3. Menjadi salah satu brand terkuat di Amerika (Net sales increased 3.7% in 2018
compared with 2017, reflecting a benefit from the recent Amplify and Pirate Brands
acquisitions of 3.6% and a volume increase of 1.3%, partially offset by unfavorable
price realization of 1.0% and an unfavorable impact from foreign currency exchange
rates of 0.2%. Excluding the unfavorable impact from foreign currency exchange
rates, our net sales increased 3.9%.)

1. Produknya mudah ditiru dan ini adalah masalah yang dihadapi di negara-negara

2. Karena Herseys beroperasi di sekitar 80 negara, maka perusahaan sulit untuk
melakukan kontrol perusahaan karena memasuki pasar geografis yang berbeda-beda

2. Pada 2020 hershey dapat menggunakan 100% bahan baku cocoa untuk semua
produk coklat.
3. Hershey punya potensi dalam mengembangkan produk berbasis gula dan bahan
baku yang lebih sehat
4. Perusahaan dapat menciptakan pasar baru di India dan china karena produk yg belum
tereksploitasi disana.
5. Hershey dapat menciptakan GerakanCocoa untuk membuat kesadaran bagi petani
cocoa di dunia.
6. Di ACSI perusahaan Hershey mencapai index customer Satisfaction sebesar 84 naik
2% dari perusahaan MARS competitor lainnya. Sehingga Hershey dapat
mengembangkan produk yang lebih baik kedepannya karena prospek yang baik.

Threats:

7. Perubahan keinginan konsumen kearah makanan yang lebih sehat (Due to growing
consumer demand for healthier food)
8. Harga dari bahan baku cacao yang semakin meningkat
9. Wacana akan peningkatan pajak oleh beberapa sektor pemerintah akan makanan
yang kurang sehat (Many different governments (local, regional, and national) have
increased (or plan to) taxes or have flat out banned unhealthy items).
10. Meningkatnya jumlah obesitas dan penyakit lain akibat konsumsi gula yang salah
(increasing obesity is a major problem among the world’s population. Processed
sugar negatively impacts the body by increasing chances of tooth decay, obesity, and
diabetes, and additionally can significantly increase one’s chances of getting heart
disease and even cancer).
11. Persaingan yang ketat antar industry (We sell our brands in highly competitive
markets with many other global multinational, national, regional and local firms.)
12. Jumlah bahan baku yang tersedia (Increases in raw material and energy costs along
with the availability of adequate supplies of raw materials could affect future
financial results.)
