SKILLS OF AN EDUCATION MANAGER

In a globalized society and influenced by the rise of science and technology;

education is an organization that needs to have educational managers who have the

skills to plan, organize and supervise educational approaches and strategies; as well as

resource development for the curriculum of primary basic education, secondary

education and administrators. Educational management is a goal oriented activity. It

involves group efforts and organized work and performance towards the achievement of

certain predetermined goals in an educational institution. With an active coordinated

effort we can achieve the objectives of the organization, efficiently using material and

human resources in the educational environment (Bindu, D (2019).

Education managers are responsible for timely communication of the rules, ideas,

regulations and policies that are the basis of the institutional organization. It is

important that the education manager has written and verbal and interpersonal

communication skills to act as the leader of the educational community. This work

requires people who are informed about the country's educational norms and standards;

since regulations are the basis for exercising their administrative and educational

responsibilities. In this way, from the theoretical foundation for the field of leadership

and educational management, he points out leadership modes in the following skills:

Information technologies, project management, reports and budgets, curriculum

development, people management, presentation and communication, leadership,

research, networks, being innovative and strategic, being motivating, being discreet and

friendly, being thorough and effective, knowledge about reports and budgets, expert

analytical and organizational skills, time management expert, ability to supervise

people, job responsibilities of An education manager. Bush, T. (2007).

An educational manager is a leader who provides opportunities for participants to

develop personal understanding and foster conditions for practical reflection

Sergiovanni (1998) Cited in MLA (Modern Language Assoc.). Leadership as an

important quality in the educational manager; It means planning in sophisticated ways

to achieve the desired results. Therefore, educational leaders must take responsible

leadership actions to create organizational cultures that enhance the growth and

development of everyone involved in teaching and learning Duignan and Macpherson,

(1992). The qualities emphasize encouraging and empowering those directly

responsible for the teaching processes.

Thus the leader in educational management: Creates opportunities to allow

participants in any change process to reflect on their practice and develop a personal

understanding of the nature and implications of the change for themselves; encourages

those involved in implementing an improvement to form social groups to provide

mutual support during the change process; provides opportunities for positive comments
for everyone involved in the change; and should be sensitive to the possible results of

any development process and provide the necessary conditions for feedback and follow-

up so that those involved have the opportunity to discuss and rethink their ideas and

practices. Duignan and Macpherson, (1992)

It is important to note that the main labor responsibility of an education manager is

related to: supervision of staff and administer the general functions of administration of

the school or university. Along with this, he or she is also responsible for performing

some additional work tasks that are as follows: Interview and recruit new staff. train

newly recruited candidates and assign them work, implementation of various

educational programs, understand the needs of the school and equip them accordingly,

approve the curriculum prepared by the education coordinator, ensure that the rules and

policies of the organization are properly followed, attend administrative meetings,

periodically interact with staff to understand the progress and necessary requirements,

manage and evaluate the development of new courses, prepare and manage reports and

submit them to the higher authorities. Bush, T. (2007).

In this way the skills of an education manager is to contribute to a work team to

develop all their competences, so that students acquire significant learning that allows

them to venture into social, cultural, economic, political, educational transformations ...

to achieve true human development

Conclusion

The educational manager is a manager of strategies, skills, competencies that move

towards leadership that promotes teamwork, is innovative, has social skills that allow

him to develop assertive communication, is an ideal person to perform a job that

requires great responsibility and professionalism, to enter education as a strategy of

social change.
