Follow the guidelines of the EPA or other
governmental agencies for the proper
disposal of hazardous materials such as
engine oil, fuel, and engine coolant.

hazardous materials by dumping them into a sewer, on
the ground, or into groundwater or waterways.
Clean all accumulated dirt and debris away from the
body of the tack distributor and its components before
you inspect the tack distributor or perform preventive
maintenance procedures or repairs. Operating a
tack distributor with accumulated dirt and debris will
cause premature wear of tack distributor components.
Accumulated dirt and debris also hinders effective tack
distributor inspection.
Retrieve any tools or parts that may have dropped inside
of the tack distributor to avoid improper tack distributor
operation.
If any alert indicator illuminates during tack distributor
operation, stop the engine immediately. Determine
the cause and repair the problem before continuing to

Battery Precautions (Optional)

While the engine is running or the battery is
charging, hydrogen gas is being produced
and can be easily ignited. Keep the area
around the battery well-ventilated and keep

1 MATERIAL CONSIDERATIONS
The liquid asphalt most commonly used in the LeeBoy
tack distributor is emulsified asphalt. The information
in this section is based upon industry standards.

and may provide superior performance to the standard
grades.
Two asphalt products should NEVER be used in the

Operation

TRANSPORTING THE
DISTRIBUTOR
Be sure the trailer is large enough to handle the weight
of the tack distributor if transporting. Ensure the unit is
positioned for even distribution of weight between the
trailer axles and trailer hitch.
It is also important that the combine height of the truck
bed, trailer and distributor meet height restrictions for
the local area, including bridges, overpasses and any
other overhead obstructions enroute.
1. Ensure the the tack tank is empty and flush the
circulating system.
2. Clean the machine thoroughly with a pressure
washer.
3. Park the transport vehicle or trailer on a level
surface, engage the park brake, shut off the engine,
and place wheel chocks behind tires.
4. Use a ramp sufficient to support the trailer-mounted
machine (or loading dock). If loading a skid-mount
unit, use a lifting device strong enough to lift the unit
onto the transport vehicle bed. Ensure the unit is
centered and secured on the trailer.
5. For trailer-mounted unit, block tires on both sides.
6. Secure the distributor (trailer-mount or skid-mount)
to the trailer using chains that are rated in excess of
the distributor weight though the D-rings on top of
the unit.

ENGINE MAINTENANCE
Engine maintenance is critical for maximizing safe and
efficient operation. Inspect the engine routinely and
perform the maintenance procedures at the appropriate
intervals to enjoy years of trouble-free operation. For
more specific engine maintenance information, see the
