Experiment # 2:
To Study the Behavior of a BJT as an Amplifier.
Objective:
To observe the amplification of BJT by fixed biased Configuration.
Apparatus:
 Oscilloscope
 Power Supply
 Signal Generator
 Breadboard
 Digital Multimeter
 Connecting Probes
 Jumper Wires
 Transistor(2N3904)
 Capacitor(10nF)
 Resistors (1MΩ and 2kΩ)

Procedure:
In this experiment we study the behavior of Bipolar Junction Transistor as an
amplifier using fixed biased configuration.
 First of all we calibrate the oscilloscope at 2V peak-to-peak and 1KHz frequency.
 Then we identify the terminals Base(B), Emitter(E) and Collector(C) of the transistors
using digital multimeter.
 We connect a circuit on the breadboard by using probes and Jumper wires.
 Then apply DC biasing of 12V from power supply at the common terminal of Base
resistor 𝑅𝐵 and Collector Resistor 𝑅𝑐 .
 Apply input sinusoidal signal from a signal generator of peak to peak value of 0.2V at
the base terminal of Bipolar Junction Transistor.
 Coupling Capacitor of value 10 (nF) is used at the in series with the input signal source
to inhibit the flow of DC current from power supply into the input sinusoidal Signal
Source.
 Change RB so that collector voltage is nearly half of VCC.
 Then we take output across Collector and ground and input between Base of ground
terminals of Bipolar Junction Transistor.
 Then connect input and output probes at the channel one and two of the transistor and
observe the amplification action of the bipolar junction transistor.
 Measure the DC voltages at all the nodes with the help of DC voltmeter.
 Then finally calculate the gain of the transistor by observing the signal on the
oscilloscope screen how much times the input signal is amplified.
 Then increase the value of the input signal gradually and observe the change in the
output signal.
