1. In Fig.1, the switch S was open for a long time and is closed at time t = 0. Find iL(t) and v L1 t for t >
0.
2. In Fig.2, the switch S was at position A for a long time, and changes its position from A to B at time t
= 0. Sketch and label iL(t), and determine the time when it becomes equal to 5 A.
3. Figure 3 shows the schematic of a relay, i.e., if steady-state condition is assumed for time t < 0 (with
the switch S open), and S is closed at t = 0, then it will open automatically as soon as the current
through the inductor [iL(t)] becomes equal to 2 mA. Determine R such that the relay functions (i.e., S
opens automatically) at t = 5 ms.
4. Refer to Fig.4. Switch S1 was open and S2 was closed for a long time. At time t = 0, S1 is closed and S2
is opened simultaneously. Determine vC(t) for t = 0, , 2, 5, and 10 , where is the time constant of
the circuit for t 0. What is the value of this time constant ?
5. Refer to Fig.4. Both switches S1 and S2 were open for a long time, and both are closed simultaneously
at time t = 0. Repeat Prob.4.
