Millions of people every year move to English-speaking countries such as Australia, Britain or
America, in order to study at school, college or university.
Why do so many people want to study in English? Why is English such an important
international language?
Give reasons for your answer.

It is well known that the English language is one of the most dominating languages all
over the world. Due to this, more and more often students choose English-speaking countries
for studying or developing/applying their gained knowledge. Thus, countries like Australia, New
Zealand, the USA as the best known English speaking countries give a chance to enhance
progress by improving young people’s language (skills). In this essay, the reasons why the
majority people decide to study in English and why this popular language is so crucial nowadays
will be explained.

In this essay, the reasons why English is chosen to be studied in by the large number of
youth and why this popular language is so crucial nowadays will be
explained/presented/shown/demonstrated.

Firstly, English is the first language in most of the developed countries across the world.
These countries are also the centres of the most prominent universities which offer education in
English. What is more, students choose colleges or universities because those propose not only
high quality education but also high living standards. Furthermore, the best students have the
opportunity to get a scholarship, and in the future, the highly paid work in large companies in
these developed countries. That is why, studying at an international university in the
named/mentioned states is an opportunity to expand one’s horizons and perspectives.

Secondly, it is agreed that the English language is easy for studying and, as a result, is
taught in schools and colleges in many developing countries. Moreover, the advanced books in
computing software, science or literature and other scientific books are mostly written in English
and this is the language that is spoken by the vast majority of people abroad. Furthermore, with
the increasing effect of globalisation, people are adopting the foreign music, movies, books and
style. Thus, to be able to communicate with people, to understand what others are saying and to
know more information, English is simply necessity / a must.

To sum up, English stands in the first place that a person must/ should know and study
in the modern world. It is necessary for studying, future career, and understanding people from
other countries. Learning in English-speaking countries is becoming increasingly popular and it
is predicted that more and more people will/ would set themselves the goal to learn English to
study abroad in the future.
