TURNITIN
All reports must be submitted online to Turnitin which is a plagiarism detection tool. Turnitin returns a
percentage of how similar a student’s work is to the work of others.
If percentage returned is over 30%, the lecturer will investigate the similarity.
After investigation if the lecturer deems there to be no issue, no penalty will apply.
After investigation if copying is confirmed an issue, then the maximum mark will be reduced by 50%.
If percentage returned is over 30% and an issue for a second assessment across one or more courses,
the student will attend a disciplinary meeting and penalties can be more severe.
Lecturer-directed Learning
Scheduled classes, tutorials, lecturers, workshops and practical sessions which are facilitated by your lecturer will give
you the opportunity to actively participate in your learning. Some lecture-directed learning will include the use of
interactive technology supported resources which may be accessed in class, on campus or off campus.
Self-directed Learning
All programmes include self-directed learning time where you will engage in independent study. By accessing
supporting resources, this learning is completed in your own time.
