 Attempt every assessment.
 Achieve a minimum of 40% in any final examination.
 Achieve an overall grade of C- [50%] or better.

LATE ASSESSMENT PENALTY

The School of Professional Engineering has the following policy regarding the late submission of assessments
WITHOUT an extension:
 Late assessments submitted without an extension will attract a penalty.
 The penalty will comprise a deduction of 10% per day, deducted from the total available marks for the
assessment task, for a maximum of 5 days (50%).
 Thereafter a late assessment will be recorded as having been received for the purposes of completion,
but attract a zero mark.
 Failure to submit assessments designated as mandatory will result in an NC (fail – not complete) for the
course.

TURNITIN
All reports must be submitted online to Turnitin which is a plagiarism detection tool. Turnitin returns a
percentage of how similar a student’s work is to the work of others.
 If percentage returned is over 30%, the lecturer will investigate the similarity.
 After investigation if the lecturer deems there to be no issue, no penalty will apply.
 After investigation if copying is confirmed an issue, then the maximum mark will be reduced by 50%.
 If percentage returned is over 30% and an issue for a second assessment across one or more courses,
the student will attend a disciplinary meeting and penalties can be more severe.
