SUMMARY #2

Political caricature, is a type of drawing that shows and can be another way to understand
politics. It is also used to show comments and criticism in a particular event or situation. Just like
what we have seen in the book, it shows how the American treats the Filipino people. It shows
how Filipino worked hard yet they are still the one who's at the bottom part of the economy.
Filipino working hard and the American getting all the credit. These are just some of the situation
shown in a Political caricature. It might looked exaggerated but these are facts that'll make us
understand politics more.

The speech of Corazon C. Aquino was from an official gazette, an official journal of the Republic
of the Philippines in US Congress, Washington DC, on September 18, 1986, six (6) months after
she was inaugurated as President of the Republic of Philippines. The speech was meant to convince
the United States, the famous home of democracy, to help Philippines preserve the democracy The
recently achieved. The speech started with the life story of Ninoy Aquino and how he died to pave
the way to a democratic country. That the responsibility of continuing the fight for freedom now
rests on the shoulders of his wife, Corazon Aquino, the president after the dictator, Ferdinand
Marcus. She then continued her speech narrating the hardships the country and its people went
through to gain freedom, how poll watchers tied themselves to the poll boxes just so that armed
people can't steal the ballots to preserve their freedom, how the Filipino people themselves fought
for their own independence. She then appealed to the US Congress to help stabilize the situation
in the Philippines with regards to the economic situations of the country. The Filipinos won the
battle against dictatorship themselves without external help, while others did it with the aid of the
United States. She concluded the speech with an invitation of collaboration between the two
countries to create a new home for democracy.
