Criminal Case:

CARNAPPING (Rent-Tangay Scheme):

Brief Background

A client came in asking for assistance as some of his vehicles that were rented
some time on December are now sold online. According to him, he was just surprised
when upon browsing his Facebook account he saw the subject vehicles being posted
for sale. He further said that the person who rented the said vehicles can no longer be
located.

Action Taken:

The senior lawyer made a letter on behalf of the client, addressed to the Land
Transportation Office asking if the subject vehicles had been subject to a Deed of Sale.
It further asks whether the Official Receipts and Certificates of Registration remain
active and remain in the name of the registered owners or whether there are
encumbrances/liens appearing on the copies registered with the government. The
feedback/answer to the letter determines the next steps/actions to be taken
accordingly.

Criminal Case:

COLLECTION FOR SUMS OF MONEY

Brief Background:

In a pending case for Collection for Sums of Money, the plaintiff/affiant

of the case appeared in the law office to have his Judicial Affidavit made.
Accordingly, the affiant is from Nueva Ecija who just arrived in Baguio at that
time.

Action Taken:

The questions of the lawyer to his client were propounded to him in

Tagalog. The lawyer did not immediately as they had a little chit-chat and
update as to the status of the case and then explained to him the purpose and
reason as to why he was called and to have his Judicial Affidavit made. He
(lawyer) then started asking first into his personal circumstances, his
participation as to what brought about the instant case, how he came to know
the defendant and, lastly, questions on other concerns which adds to building
up the case.
