Rules and regulations of Acupuncture practice in India.

There are no clear rules and regulations about Acupuncture training and practice in India.
Thus technically it is not illegal or legal to practice Acupuncture in India. There is similar
situation in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangla Desh, Nepal etc.
In India there are few courses here or there. Main example is of Acupuncture course for
Medical Doctors conducted by IGNOU which is open university in India. The Maharastra
state introduced Acupuncture as one of the subjects for occupational course of
Naturopathy and yoga. The course is now being modified to start another course of
Acupuncture to get certificate of Acupuncture Assistant.
A qualified Medical Doctor may, if he wishes, practice Acupuncture as main or
subsidiary practice.
There is however, NO provision of getting registration, license or permission to practice
Acupuncture.
I am visiting Professor of Acupuncture at The Open International University Of
Complementary Medicine, Colombo Sri Lanka. This is established according to Alma
Ata declaration of WHO. And is established according to rules of government of Sri
Lanka.
The late Prof Dr Anton Jayasuriya who was head of the university was also greatest
teacher of Acupuncture. The fact that students from 174 countries have taken training
from him; even students from China Korea Japan and all Asian countries used to come
for Acupuncture training to our Guru. Now the training program is continued by very
able professors of the university and it is attended by students of many many countries,
including students from USA, UK, Asian countries, African Countries And Australia.
There are Institutes in all the countries, which are affiliated to our university. The
professors appointed by university teach students in own countries and after proper
training and evaluation offer diploma of the University. Doctors, scientists,
acupuncturists, physio-therapists, occupational therapists, naturopath, and all
practitioners of complementary medicines, attend the annual World Congress in
Colombo. A grand ceremony of convocation is included in this program. A student
receives his Diploma in the presence of all the Ministers of Government of Sri Lanka,
University officers, other delegates, and eminent members of public.
I have affiliated institute since 1993. I teach our guru’s method of Acupuncture.
It is 1 year course but we can finish it in a month or two. I see that the student is capable
of doing independent practice before recommending him for certificate. It is taught by
mastery training method of education. I am very good teacher.
This is simpler and effective. It is easy to learn. The main advantage of learning in India
is that student gets hundreds of patient from different situations, diseases, and disorders.
I am constantly doing research in Acupuncture according to guide lines provided by my
guru during training sessions.
