Development plan (2006)
The urban being of today has to face increasingly changing landscapes, for this he must find ways to adapt
to these and be able to navigate in his reticular conformation. Development plan is an aesthetic approach to
this problem.
Royal Road (2013)
In this work the artist goes for a walk with geographer Camilo Domínguez along part of the Royal Road. The
royal roads are an appropriation by the Europeans of indigenous paths to adapt them to horse-driven traffic.
They are present all over Latin America. In the walk they analyze the way in which the space is a human
production, and the geography becomes a way to access the world as an exercise in vision and reading.
Writing (2018)
Series of actions for video in which the artist approaches different monuments to push them with his body.
A sequence of monuments is generated with which a small story is told, relating the colonial history of
Colombia to its recent history.
Bio: Visual artist with a degree in film direction and master’s in plastic and visual arts. Domínguez works
mainly in expanded audiovisual on a theoretical and practical level. He has extended his practice to the
participatory documentary, the use of non-traditional supports for projection, mobile projections in specific
places, mapping and mixing live video, as well as connecting the moving image with media and practices
like drawing and performance.

Teatro emancipatorio ambulante.

Emancipatory Itinerant Theatre. Episode: Operation Chrysalid (2017)
The piece is a homage to the female textile workers of Lawrence, USA, who carried out a protest known as
the Bread and Roses strike. It illustrates how tolerance of exploitation under a gruelling, oppressive labour
regime came to a head when it took the life of a young female worker.
Bio: Born in Buenos Aires, in 1980. Rizzo has shown an inclination for creative labours since she was a girl.

The works of Adrian Paci draw on a deep familiarity with art history, combining the observation of social

A tribute to the late master of modern electronic music, Mika Vainio (1963–2017). The program features
two films for which Vainio scored full soundtracks. The short film A Physical Ring is the first collaboration
between Vainio and Taanila and the first film score Vainio ever made, under the name of Ø, one of his
monikers. The general mood of the dialogue-free feature film Tectonic Plate is based very much on the dark
textures and rhythms of Vainio’s music.

The political films in the Resistance programme, ranging in date from 1961 to 2010, often present quite
an unpolished view of the world. In the works, which occupy a continuum from documentary to essay and
animation, filmmakers intervene, take a stand and protest on behalf of human rights, freedom and life itself.

Combing through the extensive archive in the Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre (CFMDC) we
have unearthed some gems from the past that speak to the overarching BIM motif of Despite It All with a
response You’re gonna make it after all. The idea of overcoming obstacles (or not) dominates the theme of
this program, from a variety of sociological perspectives. Humour and irony are the obvious approaches put
forward, but we also see subtleties that speak to the human condition that offer more complex readings.

In this performance-talk, Jeremy Fernando will attempt to respond to the question of the relationship
between art and resistance, to the possibility of art as resistance–that is, to meditate on the possible
relationship between resisting and art. While doing so, he will also try to attend to the notion that art is an
encounter–between one and something that is brought forth in the movement from craft and something
other than what is created through tekhnē.
a ellas.
Living with Art, Writing Death y On Fidelity.
In this performance-talk, Jeremy Fernando will attempt to explore the relationship between walking and
thinking, movement and thought, through that all-too-familiar situation of writer’s block. The piece opens

trying to inscribe his thoughts on and response to the artist Ruben Pang’s magnificent oil paintings.

¿Vamos a seguir
What was happening among us while Godard was writing his Manifesto? Assuming the risks of contem-
porary life and knowing the political and social context that we are now experiencing, as well as reviewing
what we have inherited, we can ask ourselves: what do we do now? Are Godard’s inquiries still of use to
us? Are we going to continue to slide between 1 and 2, between political and politically? Does this question
still belong in contexts like ours? How can cinema and artistic production address these questions within
contemporary challenges?

Photogenies and Paradoxes brings together twelve film essays written between 1997 and 2017, medita-
tions on the seventh art’s potential for representation and transformation. On the one hand, photogénie, a
concept of the historic avant-gardes, defines the virtue of cinema, its ontology. Cinema may invest its time,
explore the close-up, dialogue with the history of art. On the other hand, cinema is exploring its own limits,
its negation, its destruction, playing with the abstraction and the possibility of metamorphosis.

One does not merely see or appreciate an image, but rather one also studies it, analyzes it and interprets it
from one’s discursive position.
So it is that this theoretical-practical seminar will be the result of investigating into what the artist is trying to
tell us and asking ourselves what this “longed-for image” is, understanding this as the process of construc-
tion of worlds typical of artistic practice.
