QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

REFLECTION PAPER

Erine Raeane B. Carreon

11 - HUMSS

Throughout the process of the research, I was able to learn a lot about my

capabilities and skills, as well as team work & compromise with my group mates.

Initially, my group had hit a rough turn when it came to the selection of topics. We

had a lot of good ideas, and unfortunately we were all torn with our top 2 topics.

Those 2 topics were about the K-12 System, and Children’s EQ. Ending up, we

divided ourselves into 2 seperate groups of 2 members each. However, under Ms.

Myla’s suggestion, we had to come back together as 1 group since both tasks of

both groups require a lot of helping hands. Returning as one unit again, we ended up

choosing a topic that we all agreed upon, and chose as our current research topics.

We chose a topic regarding the school policies and regulations, and how it affects

the student’s behaviours.

Personally, our group didn’t really have an easy time when accomplishing the

tasks required for our research. We were pressed for time, since we had to come up

with a new topic. A lot of us went away during the semester break, therefore we

couldn’t really communicate with one another. The paper was left blank for a few

days, because none of us really knew what to write or input into the document. We

got stuck. Not to mention the amount of suspensions that happened due to the Taal
Volcano eruption. During the week when the volcano erupted, we were conversing

with Ms. Caye & Ms. Myla regarding our consent forms. We didn’t want to let the

week go to waste, so we decided to finish the consent forms. Doing so, we would be

able to release the documents with the signatures of our members, research adviser,

and the administrators. Nonetheless, we pulled through.

During our final weeks leading up to the defense, we could feel the pressure

arising. Our group volunteered to be the first group, despite our conflicts during the

first week of research. We were all stressed. Our research paper had a lot of

improvements to be done. We asked my mother, Ms. Katherine Carreon-Barredo, to

check our papers. She also had a lot of revision instructions and corrections for us to

do. I couldn’t even count the cups of coffee that I’ve drank in order to finish

correcting and finishing the paper. I couldn’t even recall the countless times, I’ve

fallen asleep on my laptop keyboard, and woke up with keyboard imprints on my

forehead. As comedic as it was, it was just a way to cope with the amount of

emotional and mental stress we were all under.

In general, this research paper made me realize how much teamwork and

cooperation is needed. As well as, self-discipline and compromise. These values will

be carried out to future research projects, in order to alleviate each member’s

problems with regarding research. This experience really made me grow as a

person, and a student. It taught me time management and initiative. I was very

grateful for the whole experience despite the amount of crying and stress I had. It

changed me to become a better student, and person.
