Subject : Lead Gauge Setting Standard. Revision No : 3 PTSCOS/06-2000

SUBJECT : CALIBRATION OF LEAD GAUGE SETTING STANDARD.

1.0 PUPROSE

1.1 To establish a standard procedure for calibration of lead gauge setting standards.

2.0 APPLICATION

2.1 Applies to all lead gauge setting standards used by field inspectors to calibrate lead
gauges.

2.2 This procedure applies to the initial calibration of newly acquired gauge standards and to
the periodic recalibration at the specified intervals.

3.0 ASSOCIATED MATERIALS

3.1 Calibration control and recall.

3.2 API Spec 7 , RP 5A5 , Spec 5B.

3.0 PROCEDURE

3.1 Visually inspect the setting standard for any abvious discrepencies which would affect
function or accuracy of standard. If the standard has been used , look for signs of wear
on the flanks of the notches.

3.2 Measure the distance from the notch closest to the end of the standard to each of the
other notches.

3.3 The distance between any two adjecent notches shall be accurate within a tolerance of
+- 0.001” and between any two non-adjacent notches within a tolerance of +-0.0002.

3.4 The nominal distance between notches shall be as specified in API Spec 7 and 5B as
applicable.

3.5 Any standards exceeding the tolerances specified in paragraph shall be reworked and
recalibrated or scrapped.

4.0 DOCUMENTATION

4.1 A record of calibration shall be furnished to main office. The record shall include as a
mimimum , the following information.

A A description of the item calibrated.

B Serial number of item calibrated.

C The date calibration was performed.

D Identifying mark of the individual performing the calibration.

E Notation of any out of tolerance conditions.

F The instruments and/or standards used in calibration.
