SUBJECT : DRILL PIPE TECHNICIAN PERSONNEL QUALIFICATION.

1.0 SCOPE

1.1 This specification establishes standards to be used in evaluating the ability

of PTSC OS Drill Pipe Technicians to perform their assigned tasks.

1.2 Stisfactory completion of the training and other requirements of this

specification must be accomplished and certification as a Drill Pipe
Technician must take place prior to performing the duties of a Drill Pipe
Technician.

2.0 EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

2.1 Candidates for certification shall have sufficient education and experience to
insure understanding of the principles and procedures involved in the
inspection and classification of drill pipe and connections.

2.2 The following requirements must be met for certification.

2.2.1 Successful completion of the PTSC OS Rotary Shouldered Connection

Inspection Training School.

2.2.2 Successful completion of the PTSC OS Tubular Inspection Training School.

2.2.3 Certification as Level II in Magnetic Particle Inspection in accordance with

procedure number ASNT. SNT C-1A lastest revision.

2.2.4 Certification as Level II in liquid penetrant testing in accordance with

procedure number ASNT. SNT C-1A lastest revision.

2.3 Personnel considered for certification shall receive sufficient training to

assure familiarity with the principles and practices involved. The training
program shall include axaminations to assure that the material has been
comprehended.

3.0 RECOMMENDATION

3.1 All candidates for certification must be recommended by their immediate

supervisor and area manager.

3.2 Recommendations must be approved by the Inspection Manager and the

Director of Engineering Services.

4.0 CERTIFICATION

4.1 Certification records for Drill Pipe Technicians shall be maintained by

Inspection Manager or his designee.

4.2 The personnel file of each certified technician shall contain documentation
with the following inforrmation.

4.2.1 The name of the certified technician

4.2.2 The type of certification

4.2.3 Certification records pertaining to Level II certification in Magnetic Particle

Testing as required by procedure number ASNT.SNT C-1A.

4.2.4 Certification records pertaining to Level II certification in Liquid Penetrant

Testing as required by procedure number ASNT.SNT C-1A.

4.2.5 The date of certification or recertification.

4.2.6 The signatures of the Inspection Manager and the Director of Engineering
Services.

5.0 RECERTIFICATION

5.1 All Drill Pipe Technicians shall be recertified by PTSC OS at least once every
thirty six (36) months by reexamination and recertification in accordance
with this standard.

6.0 INTERRUPTED SERVICE AND TERMINATION

6.1 Individuals certified by PTSC OS may be reinstated to their previous level of

certification, after up to a six month absence, provided that the following
conditions are met :

6.1.1 The previous certification has not expired

6.1.2 The required vision tests are current
6.1.3 A practical examination over applicable procedures is taken and passed
with a raw score of 80% or better.
6.2 Certification by PTSC OS is only valid while the individual is employed by
PTSC OS. a termination and rehire separated by six (6) months or less may
be considered interrupted service for recertification purposes (Ref. Section
6.1).
