This is your take-home final. You actual final will consist of four questions (25pts each) chosen randomly
from the list below. You will have 20 minutes and one attempt to complete the four random questions. Be
concise and to the point, I will only read the number of sentences stated for each question. You will be
graded on the quality of your responses as well as the grammar and professionalism of your submission.

1. You have been tasked to put together a team to develop a new Running Shoe. Based on the I-
P-O model what would be some specific Inputs of the team that would enhance success? (in two

2. I just found out that John Upson is getting paid more than I am and feel this is unfair. Based
on Equity Theory what can I do to reduce my feelings of inequity? Give me two examples (three

3. In the article about Organizational Justice they suggested justice was “socially constructed”,
briefly explain what this means and give an example not discussed in class of ANYTHING being

5. Think of a working group or a team you have belonged to and based on the HBR article detail
and defend why you feel they were a working group or a team (in four sentences or less).

6. Kris likes the hot dogs at convenience store down the corner. He then found out that their
secret ingredient came from using the meat of the endangered Wessex Saddleback Hog. As a
longtime supporter of the Wessex Saddleback Hog he knew his behavior did not support his attitude.
BESIDES stop eating the hot dogs what else could Kris do to reduce his cognitive dissonance (in

7. Hannah’s production team has exceed expectations but is unaware that Brianne’s sales team
can’t keep up. Based on the HBR article what can Hannah do to make her team more aware of
emotions outside their own group like Brianne’s sales team (in three sentences or less)?

8. If I have an employee that is consistently late, what can I do to modify their behavior and
make them come in on time? Give an example using “positive reinforcement” and “negative

9. From the article “On the Folly of Rewarding A, While Hoping for B” chose one example
discussed and explain how it demonstrates the misuse of motivation (in three sentences or less).

10. A new promotion has placed you in a senior leadership position. As you contemplate why
anyone would be led by you remember the HBR article and the four qualities you should develop.
Discuss one of these qualities and describe how it personally relates to you and how you would
demonstrate it (in four sentences or less).
11. You have to pitch an idea to your boss that if implemented would double efficiency and
effectiveness (where you currently work or have worked in the past). You realize that their decision-
making style would be classified as a Thinker. Based on the HBR article what would your strategy be
when presenting your idea to your boss (in four sentences or less)?

12. What are mental models? Describe mental models and a personal example of a mental model
you developed or observed (in four sentences or less).

13. Toro was going through major financial troubles in the late 1980s and, after a series of
firings, placed Ken Melrose as the CEO. Melrose was able to cut serious costs on lawsuits against
the company by enhancing relationships with employees. All the employees felt that they were
being treated fairly by Ken and in turn worked hard and were motivated. All employees, except
one. Ken’s initial meeting with George didn’t go very well. George was late and he had very little
experience in this field. Ken was hesitant but went ahead and delegated some tasks to George.
However what happened next caused a great deal of strain on this relationship and ever since
George has been treated differently.

Why was Ken hesitant initially and why did he still delegate tasks to George? What do you think
could have happened next to put strain on the relationship and describe what is meant by
“differently”? Base your response on the three dimensions of LMX and the Model of the LMX
Development Process (in four sentences or less).
