Technology Standard Addressed: 5. Computational Thinker Students develop and employ strategies for
understanding and solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop
and test solutions. Students:
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This is an in-class activity so all students will have access to devices to
respond online. Students do not have to speak or type anything so any students with speak delays or trouble
with fine motor skills can still work the lesson effectively. Students can either use a laptop or tablets
depending on whether they would prefer to use the mouse to click or tap the answer they think is correct.
Each answer choice is clearly labeled by a different color and picture for students who may have trouble
seeing small print on the board. While the students can read the question and answers, the teacher will also
be leading the lesson and read the question and answers out loud for the class.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. Before this activity there will be many class lessons about the differences of physical and
chemical change. This Kahoot is used as a review rather than the lesson so students should have familiarity to
all concepts shown on the Kahoot. This SRT activity will be at the end of a lesson but with plenty of allotted
time to go over common misconceptions and questions students may have.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: During this lesson, teachers will read the
question and answers to the class as they come onto the board. Students will have individual devices that
correspond to the Kahoot. As they read/hear the questions, they will answer the question to the best of their
ability. Right and wrong answers are displayed anonymously, and teacher can go over the correct answer.
There is a leaderboard where students can get points for answering quickly and correctly.
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? After the activity the teacher will go over concepts that
are frequently missed and ask for any additional questions. This Kahoot can also be printed and used as a
study guide for students to review and practice at home.
How will the data be used? Data will be used by the teacher as a summative assessment to see
understanding as a class. Teachers can see most missed by percentages and what most common answers are.
This way, the data can be reflected on and lessons can be added or revised based on students’ needs.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My personal learning goal for this activity is seeing
where students are in reflection of my teaching. This is a supplemental exercise that will give me insight on
what areas I need to go back and review for my students because my lesson may have not been substantial in
some areas.
Reflective Practice: This lesson is for review, but it can be extended if I do not feel my students have
mastered the lesson. Because I can see common missed answers, I as a teacher will know what areas I need
to revisit. Student feedback will give teachers a benchmark as to what is mastered and what content areas
may still be missing.
