P2106, P2135, Replaced Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Fixed It! 2

Complaint

The customer states the check engine light is on.

Cause

Connected a scan tool and found codes: P2106 - Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Limited
Power and P2135 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "A"/"B" Voltage Correlation. With the ignition
on and the engine off, monitored live scan tool data and observed the accelerator pedal position sensor
1 parameter was not within the specified range of 3.43-4.69 Volts. Performed a road test while
monitoring live scan tool data and observed the accelerator pedal position sensor parameter was erratic.
Inspected the accelerator pedal position sensor wiring harness and connector and detected no obvious
faults. With the ignition on and the engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage
and ground at the accelerator pedal position sensor connector and found both were present.
Backprobed the accelerator pedal position sensor and performed a road test while monitoring the sensor
signal on a lab scope. The accelerator pedal position sensor signal observed on the lab scope was
erratic. These test results verified the accelerator pedal position sensor was faulty.

Correction

Replaced the accelerator pedal position sensor, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the
vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
